Well I replaced the 82 wire fuse which was fried with a new one and the motor came on for second then blew also… so now have to find out what’s causing that?? Any suggestions?

I’m not sure but I think it was…the generator was running for sure. It started rolling the cord in and then quit about 4 or 5 feet short of ending… didn’t get caught up on anything along the way either. It actually reeled in about 10ft before it quit.

Ok, my turn…got to Cherry Hill by DC after 9 hrs drive from Michigan…cord would not come out….going in OK….Coach was hot, especially the area where the cord is stored, maybe heat has an impact as said before…used extension cord to temporary resolve…will check in the AM after coach cools down…..

Dorel,

On your H there are micro switches for in/out at the rollers just inside the door. Take the fender off (a 5 mniute job) and check to see if you have a switch problem.

Diane mine did same thing as long as I did not roll out cord all the way when motor was running al good so I never put cord out when motor is running and have never had another problem or blower fuse don’t know why but it works well

Peter… that’s interesting… when I replaced the 15 amp fuse the bus was parked and hooked up to shore power and the cord was already out about 7-8 feet… It reeled for just a second and stopped immediately… fuse was blown again. Haven’t messed with it since.

Thinking about what you are saying I think the power cord reel is always used when the engine is running both in and out because I keep the OTR on until the power is hooked up and the A/Cs are all running then I cut it off.

So you are saying not to do that anymore? after I get it fixed that is? hmmm… interesting… I am hoping the fix isn’t too complicated.

I cannot remember ever running the cord reel in or out with the engine running so I am not sure that is a factor.

I do believe where and how the assembly is located is important because the proper coiling of the cord is important. I have watched mine both going in and out and somehow it is being fed into the tub in a somewhat straight line, but it always coils in a circle. If I ever were to see it not coil itself in or out I would run it out all the way and make sure it has not twisted itself.

One thing that is very troubling to me but has been OK for my four years of use is my cord picks up a lot of heat from the engine. Unlike the previous one that was located in the OTR evaporator bay, my current one is located behind the tag axle on the passenger side and that cord is warm, if not hot when I extend it after driving.

Diane I pull in and park then I shut motor off then roll cord out it works for me , if I have to sit for a bit I start the gen before I shut the motor off and turn on the AC then go outside and get water or plug in and so on

After reading everyone’s procedure on releasing the power cord, our engine is ALWAYS running when I plug in and when I unplug.

When we get ready to depart, I start the engine so the suspension will build. Once I hear it ‘sneeze’, I know the suspension is up and I can retract the slides.

I’m usually emptying the holding tank while waiting for the ‘sneeze’ so it will do that a couple of times.

After the tank is empty, I start to pull in the slides then turn off the house air condtioning. The last thing I do is unplug from the pole and retract the cord.

On hot days I release the whole cord and position it somewhat under the coach so that it stays in the shade as shown below.

The cord comes out from under the coach at that little section where the fuel door is located (you can see the black key hole cover). I have a lot of the cord pulled forward towards the front of the coach so it can ‘breathe’. This is an early morning shot, soon the cord will be in the shade all day.

You do realize that we have no fumes with DEF and a Particulate filter (exhaust exits the roof)…… it smell like roses I tell you!
