I don’t know, Jeff. The bus is already leaning from that front slide being extended. Not sure Tom is ready for a double.

Are you in the campground or the “nice” resort side with that very old Prevost bus. I see they have the 10 year rule on the resort side. May be through there in October and was wondering about their restrictions.

Les – It’s the camera angle, we’re dead level.
Chris – We’re in the resort side, coach age never came up. Doubt it would matter, the place is full of trailers, tents, laundry hanging and RV’s of all sorts. There is nothing separating the resort from the gravel campground, it’s just all slammed in here together.

Tom, if you haven’t already, take the Jeep out east on 128 and take BLM 100 to the south. Take the road on thru the campground and follow it through the canyon, it’s a cool little drive.

I’m not that familiar with the area and Portal may be the best place here. We have a nice site, although the mosquito’s are a PIA. Lots of family and kids and all sorts of 4 wheel drive vehicles. If your looking for a class A only resort, this isn’t it. Excellent power and tree’s no issue.
We did the Arches today and off road back to 191. Getting into the park this morning was a 1/2 hour line, 2 lane deep.

Remember about Dead Horse Point State Park, and unless things have changed, we enjoyed the dinner/evening laser river cruise.
Have a great time on the trails, and several good wineries around too…

Going to dead horse tomorrow. Doubt there is any river cruises, water is really high, looks almost to flooding height.

I commented about how bad the skeeters are here… Office told us today it’s so bad, tonight the feds are bringing in spraying aircraft due to finding West Nile Virus in the skeeters.
I have so much bug spray on I smell like Jon when he leaves his garden.

When you come out of Dead Horse, on your right is a road that goes to a scenic overlook. If you stay on that road and keep going, it takes a bunch of steep narrow switchbacks to the bottom of the canyon. If you stay on that road it will take you all the way back to the blue ponds on the north side of Moab. Real nice drive with a lot to see.

Must see:
Mesa arch, at sunrise. It’s an hour from Moab to the parking lot up in canyonland NP. 1/4 mile walk to the rim. Don’t be late, when the sun comes up it lights the underside of the arch. Only lasts 15 or 20 minutes. This time of the summer that’s an early sunrise but worth it.
Delicate arch at sunset. That’s a 1 1/2 mile walk up hill on the very hot slick rock this time of year. Go early, take your time, take dinner, plenty of water and enjoy the show. Stay till the sun goes down.

Did it Andre in reverse, ended up on 313 just down from the deadhorse entrance. The trail is called Shafer. This photo is looking down on the trail from deadhorse point.

Tom, did you drive to the Shafer Trail via Potash Rd from Moab? We took Shafer Trail down and then Potash Rd into Moab last year. It took something like 3 hours to drive 20 miles or so. The views of Colorado River were awesome. That was some drive! Don’t forget to take the Jeep to Fins & Things and Hells Revenge. We stayed on the same lot last year at Portal.

Yes Jim, entered on Potash. It took a long time like you said, 19+ miles. Had lunch on the overlook where they did Thelma & Louise.
