Dick, we normally use the GEM Car at dog shows so usually there will be crates, grooming tables, chairs, and supplies in the big box on the back of the GEM Car. It actually holds a good bit, more that I originally thought when we first went shopping for one. We can leave stuff in the box, lock it up, and with the GEM Car on the trailer it acts like more storage space when traveling.
A GEM Car can be configured as a 2, 4 or 6 seater with the back set up golf, flatbed, or a box like we have. Our GEM Car has doors to keep the weather out, heater/defroster, windshield wiper, disc brakes, backup camera, etc. It has turned out to be a huge upgrade over the ClubCar golf cart we used to travel with.
Being street legal on low speed roads means many times we can travel around to places nearby. When we need “real” transportation, we will tow our Ram crew cab 4×4.
-
lots of talk about arrival dates. If we need to depart on Sunday the 28th will we be able to move through traffic with bus and towed? Appears there will be LOTS of foot traffic so will roads be open if one needs to depart on Sunday?
-
You can depart Sunday or Monday. Traffic is not an issue as a result of the event. There might be traffic on I-4 but that has nothing to do with the rally.
-
Truk’s 1/19/2016 over head photo with red line is a hard asphalt drive….. always clear and open to street.
-
There is a dog show at the facility the weekend before the rally. Their instructions include the following for RVs:
“ATTENTION: If you are driving a motor home, you will be
better off to take W. Pipkin instead of Medulla. When you
get off I-4 on County Line Rd., go south 4.5 miles to W.
Pipkin. Left on W. Pipkin 1.6 miles to Medulla Rd. Left on
Medulla Rd. ½ mile to site.”Looking at Google street view, the short – car route into Sun ‘N Fun seems to be tree lined with the possibility of low branches. Maybe someone can tell us if it is better when coming South down County Line Road to pass Medulla and take the next left on W. Pipkin then left on Medulla.
-
There is no issue using Medula road. The trees have adequate clearance under them. The road is a little narrow but there are no clearance issues. Once you enter the facility at the curve on Medula go straight until you get to the fence, turn left and take that until it ends at a wide blacktop area and turn right. The Cessna building is on the right.
-
Good afternoon PC,
I have received a few calls about directions. The easises access is I-4 to Exit 25 County Line Rd. proceed South approximately 3.4 miles and turn left on to Medula Rd. follow this approx 1/2 mile and the entrance to Sun n Fun, the Florida Air Museum, and Central Florida Aerospace academy will be directly in front of you.
For those that will be traveling alond S. Florida Ave. turn west on to W. Pipkin Rd. and follow all the way to County Line Rd. turn right and at the next signal will be Medula Rd. turn right on to Medula Rd and follow straight to the entrance. Your GPS may say to take a right on to Medula from Pipkin, but there is a sharp right turn that you would then have to navigate, so I think its easier and more convenient to add the extra 5 minutes travel time in to your trip and go around.
We do plan on having a straff memeber at the gate to meet you to escort you to the parking area. If at any time you need to get a hold of us. Please call me or Bill on our cell phones and we will help you out!
Tim – 717-648-2337
Bill – 717-215-0700
You may be greeted at the gate by Jon or Tom from PC, so I will apologize in advance now! jk lol
Also, Im all but done with the agenda. Of course they are always subject to change. but it is 98% minus entertainment for Wednesday evening and a few more sponsors. As soon as I get the go ahead from my proof readers I will post. Im hoping it will still be today.
Cheers,

Good afternoon PC
The show is fast approaching and we are super excited about the upcoming event!! There is still time to register for our guests that will make the last minute decision, or for those who may have friends on the fence! sign up, it will be fun for sure!
Things have been busy since our visit to Pelican Lake. Two weekends ago we had the opportunity to check out the Rolex 24 hour race. It was an awesome event and it felt like the race went on for an entire day? we met some really great folks and got to watch some incredible racing.
We had a great meeting with the folks from Lakeland Linder Regional Airport and they have been gracious enough to allow us to utilize the Warbird Ramp for our aviation friends that will be joining the show. The Warbird Ramp is located directly to the east of us on the other side of the fence line. The nice part is that all of our friends that fly in will get a taste of the good life when they walk through all of the coaches, both private and for sale. On that note, aviators can join us for $499 if they dont have a coach and who knows, maybe they will leave with one? or better yet, maybe they will purchase one at the show and they can stay with us for the remainder of the week???
This past weekend I had the opportunity to fly to Punta Gorda for the Fat Point Brewery Anniversary Party!!! Such an awesome event. I really do encourage anyone who may be traveling on the Southwest coast of Florida to stop in and check out the brewery, their great food, the awesome beer, and some of the coolest folks ever. The band UNRB was incredible. Of course this was supposed to be a one day trip, but Mother Nature had other plans!!! Remind me to tell you the entire story if you care to hear it, LOL !! For those of you that met Jason “The Beard” from Fat Point and his wonderful wife Tyler in November, Tyler gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Lucy and we are hoping she may be joining us in February!!
My big news for the weekend was Lilly’s 7th birthday! we went to the pet store and she picked out her treats and then on the way home she drove my to Chick Fil-A so she could get some chicken nuggets and waffle fries! Lilly said she is excited to see everyone in February and make friends with our new guests!!! anyway, back to the grind!!
See you all soon and please dont hesitate to give me a call with any questions, concerns, or requests!! 717-648-2337.
Cheers,

Nice pics, that’s an old 172 by the look of the yokes.. Bullet proof Cessna..
-
The old straight tail 172 were sweet planes to fly. They are ageless.
-
There is a good chance that we will be in snow and slush while we make our way to Lakeland. By chance will any on-site wash/wax/detail service be available in Lakeland when we get there?
I can always stop by a BlueBeacon in south Georgia but that is not my first choice.
-
Last rally some folks including me just cleaned their coach after they got there. Water is available.
If yours needs washing I can supervise.
