OTR air through front defrost vents

My buddy says “no dice” on the defroster vents. Way too much work for a husband, father of two, Challenger bizjet captain and mechanic.

Those vents are actually a brilliant idea, and while apparently simple they would not be so easy to make efficiently without a lot of tooling. The person that made them did a great job.

I know I don’t have a bus yet; however, these vents look ingenius and something I would think most PC members would purchase.
I don’t want to volunteer anyone here, but how about if these vents were fabricated using metal?
On another post under “Electical”, Bill Tiley, who apparently lives close to Tom, stated the following:
“I do all of my own welding, body work and painting. I also have a small metal lathe and mill so I can make or fix things that I cannot find.”
Given the talent level here on PC, there may be other PC members who can fabricate these vents as well.

I don’t think anyone yet appreciates how complex the manufacturing of the vants would be. Whether the material is metal or plastic there is going to be some serious costs involved.
It gets to be more of a challenge because the finished product has to have a good appearance as shown in the photo so a simplified design that looks somewhat industrial isn’t going to work.

I agree with Jon! These vents are difficult to maufacture! They are very nice.

I just rebuilt all this on the 98 XLE. Has 2 blowers that actually suck air past AC and heat coils. Each fan has 4 outlets=8 part of mine were capped off. I just ran extra round outlets to passanger side. The one to drivers feet has a mechanical flapper in line accesable from under dash. Note if your heat/hot water Electric valve is not seating or stuck in open position you will get heat all the time thru those vents. If I remember correct the outlets on blower are 2 1/2 inch flex hose. FWIW Bob

I have had the same problem with the last 2 H345’s I’ve owned. No fix for it through normal Prevost channels. The most effective thing I’ve tried, is black duct tape across the defroster vents, or a piece of black plastic cut to fit, you don’t have a defroster then, but who needs one in the summer. The driver vents are strong then.
The vent outside above the bumper can be taped off as mentioned earlier. Also, there is a fresh air door in the ductwork in front of the passenger, which is about 4″ square. That can be blocked off as well.
Those deflectors would be great, other than no defrost air, but I have never needed any anyway.
