Well, the buyer is picking up my current coach on Thursday next week. My wife is flying out on Tuesday to look at the Prevost we want to buy. If all goes well and she likes it, we are going to have it delivered to Nashville in mid to late september so we can attend the POG rally there.

I really appreciate all the info on this site. I’ve been reading every thread for the last month. Your input has really helped. We’ve already negotiated our deal on an ’05 XLII.

I’ve decided to pay to have a full chassis inspection done at the Prevost facility as a condition of the sale including the skin for any de-lam. We are also having new rubber put on, all new batteries, complete diesel service including replacing all the belts and hoses, fluids and filters, new air bags and valves all the way around and the generator and aqua hot will also be serviced as well as a complete PDI. The tech will stay with us in Nashville for 2 days to make sure that I am familiar with all the systems. It has silver leaf and crestron systems also.

I would appreciate if anyone had any other maintenance items that I should have serviced or checked before we pick it up. It’s an 8 year old coach with 60K miles, one owner, stored in climate control since new and full maintenance records. I told the dealer that I wanted to zero out the coach……make sure all maintenance is done so I will have a clean slate to start with. I know I could probably wait on the air bags but while it is at the service center it is just easier for me to get everything done before I get the coach since there are no service facilities close to where we live.

Again, thanks all, hope to see some of you at the rally.

    Jim,

If you want to really zero it out consider the slide seals.

They are rubber, and at this point I am not sure anyone really has a handle on their projected life. Whether you do them or not however is not as important as spending an hour or so with a tech and making notes and attaching labels to the slide controls so you know how to open or retract one manually, how to over ride the safety features in case one fails so you can move the coach. The slide room controls have a lot of features built in to prevent you from doing things you should not, such as driving with the slide room out, but if the safety device quits and it prevents you from doing what you need to do then you need to understand and have demonstrated how to over ride that safety.

Look carefully at converter installed hoses. The ones typically used on the engine are near bullet proof, but sections of hose for an Aqua hot or Websto may not have the same life span.

    Jim,

Our Rally is in Branson in October and you won’t find a better place to gain information and compare notes with the other PC members.

    Hi all,

Well we did it……My wife flew down to Texas to look at the ’05 Royale (coach 407) at legacy coach and she loved it.

Brandon is going to zero out the coach in the next 3 weeks with new tires, batteries, diesel service, swap out the old headlights, aqua hot service, new air bags and valves, tranny filters and fluid, radiator flush and service, complete PDI, genny service and then we are going to meet him in Nashville to pick it up. If the timing is right we will go to the rally there then drive back to Michigan to pack up the coach and head to Branson to attend the rally there.

I truly a appreciate the collective wisdom on this board. I can’t tell you how much we have learned and how it assisted us in the decision making process. Now we just sit and wait and plan our next year of travels. We are leaving the day after Christmas to head to St. Augustine where we will spend 3 months at our site, then on to the Sarrasota area for a week, a week at Riverbend, a week at Blue Water Key and then we may meander west a bit to wait out the bad weather in the north and be home by May or June. Can’t wait to meet some of you in person and hope our paths cross on the road.

Sounds like you did real well and it also sounds like Brandon is going the extra mile to make your purchase a great coach.

Congrats! It sounds like every item that may need to routinely be addressed is. Enjoy and I’ll see you in Nashville.

Congratulations Jim,I hear that Brandon knows his stuff about Prevost Coaches,he always has great ones for sale. From what I have heard the Royal is one of the easiest coaches to maintain,I am sure you will enjoy it,there is nothing that drives like a Prevost.

That was a big selling point for me Jack being my first prevost….and I’m sure not my last. The other is the large list of items that Brandon is taking care of for me. I too think the Royale is a good coach to stick my toe in the water with and enjoy the comfort and ride of a prevost chassis. Wish we could have come to some agreement with the folks at Liberty……maybe next time.
