Guys,

I have some follow up questions on this topic:

All my tires are less than 1.5 years old per the codes…. I haven’t been able to determine who did them but tire guy that came out to help me replace the front valves that were clogged with equal indicated that I didn’t have the correct valves. So I don’t know for sure if I have equal in all tires and I am going to try to find a shop near Troy Ohio to have the new Kane hubcaps installed and was wondering if I should have all the tires torn down to determine if they have equal or not and have all the valves replaced with the valves with the Screens or filters that Jon suggested in another thread?

Any sense of how big of a job that is?

Any suggestions for a shop near Troy OH?

I break down and mount my own tires so I can tell you for sure what is involved. When mounting a new tire, before the second bead is slid into place on the wheel a bag containing Equal or other balancing media is put into the tire. With each bag of Equal or equivalent is a replacement valve that has a screen to prevent anything from getting on the valve seat.

When working on tires the man has removed the original valve so there is not any reason why the new valve with the screen shouldn’t be used. In fact old valves are replaced as a matter of course. Another reason why people that work on the coach to be watched like a hawk.

If you do not have valves with screens then the only way to determine if Equal was installed is to break the bead, and remove at least one side from the wheel and look inside the tire. This can be done with the wheels still on the coach on all positions except the inner dual.

If you do have Equal, and you do install the correct valves in the valve stem, consider using this cap:

This picture shows what happen to one of my stick on wheel weights on the tag axle. Panel located behind the tag tire in the wheel well.

Feeling pretty good installing Centramatics Wheel Balancers on both tag wheels.

The weight strip is lodged in sprayed on sound proofing behind the tag wheel.
