Harry,
You have 4 chassis batteries next to the engine. They are the only ones that are associated with your starting problems. Your house batteries are another system entirely and have no affect on the issues you have described.
Try not to confuse yourself with systems that are not related to starting the coach. I am not saying you don’t have to think about the house batteries or systems, but for the moment they are not a concern. I would urge you to understand your systems because if the coach has been sitting not connected to power it may be possible the house batteries may need charging. If there is low voltage in the house you should start the generator, make sure the inverters are receiving power so they can recharge the batteries.

your bus has a residential style “frig.” If the coach has been without power since you brought home, you’re going need to start generator. Our coach last two days plus just running the Amana before electrical things acted “Flooey”. -

What’s that noise??? Oh it’s my engine running!!!
Yep the batteries did it and everything checked out just fine. I wasn’t able to take it on a run yet but I’ll do that tomorrow morning.
I picked up the batteries from NAPA first AM and I no more than opened the bay door to the coach batteries when low and behold my mechanic Steve pulled in, smiles and says, “I thought you may be thinking about me around now” and boy was he right! An hour later we had the cables marked, diagram made, batteries out of the coach and cables cleaned. Then we took a 15 minute coffee break and hey, we’re not even union guys!
We then installed the new batteries checked everything, put our hands on everything to make sure nothing was hot and all was well. Tomorrow I’ll take the coach for a good run and I’m looking to see if the new batteries solve the cruise and Jake Brake issue. Wouldn’t that be something if it did?
I’ll let you know tomorrow… Until then, thank you all so very much for your help and consideration! This forum has been worth every penny of the membership fee, just don’t tell Jon and Tom!
Both Jim Lane and Jon reached out asking me how things were going… What an incredibly nice thing to do and I thank you both very much!
BTW NAPA told me 3 of the batteries were 2012 and 1 was 2004 wow!

Glad to hear you got it started.
If i was you, I would take my road test straight to Jeff at ETLC.

Great advice from John Wade. Seventy miles should be just a little over an hours drive. Jeff can get you straightened out and even has electric hook ups if you need to stay overnight. No cable or sewer connections at this time.

There is a sewer connection, but it’s reserved for the work camper Mr. Brown.

I contacted Jeff and he’s two weeks out from being able to see me. I’ll take a drive later today and see what we’re looking at? It was so good to hear it fire up yesterday I’m just basking in the glow! Basking in the glow, I must have gotten that from a letters to the lovelorn somewhere. But we love our bus’s right?Harry

Good job Harry! I hope this tread can end after the update on your test drive. I takes 5 minutes to scroll to the bottom of the thread. I wonder if this is a record. Good luck going forward with your test drive. Jeff.

Jeff makes a good point, getting to the latest post in a long thread is simple on the
laptop/computer, but lots and lots of finger flicking when using a
smartphone.Too bad there isn’t a “Bottom of Page” link along with the “Top of Page” link. Linda

Harry, I was so happy seeing your post that the bus started. do you know why the solenoid was burned up yet? was the starter bad? I do not think batteries would do that? anyway good luck and have a good time at Jeffs..

At the top of the page, there is a link that says “Since Last Read” and takes you right to the bottom of the page…no need scrolling.
If you didn’t know that, do you know there is a link after you login that says “View Posts Since Your Last Visit”. It’s on your far right under the PC rotating banner.
