I have had Montana plates on my two coaches for about 13 years and 145,000 miles and been to every state west of the Mississippi and 9 states East of the Mississippi and towing with Louisiana plates on the toad.

I guess I was just lucky cause I have heard of some issues concerning California.

Louisiana drivers lic, Louisiana does not require a CDL for RV’s of any size.

On my two coach purchases if I would have registered them in Louisiana I would have paid $83,0000 to the state, wasn’t going to happen.

We bought a new coach a few years ago when we lived in GA. I had a longish conversation with Bennett in MT about the legalities on MT LLC registration. He advised us to buy a small piece of property in FL and register there. Our CPA in GA said the MT deal was clearly tax evasion. He said the GA Dept. of Revenue had folks dedicated to these tax evasion issues because of GA-built Gulfstream jet owners registering elsewhere. There is a whisle-blowers law in GA also. So, we paid a big fat GA sales tax bill and have lived happily ever after.
