Ron… Who did you talk to at Miller? My primary residence is in NY State and Miller said they don’t write insurance in NY any longer.

I also own property in Florida so I have my insurance there which is $5,800 agreed value of $475,000 with Progressive.

Ron, that is really cheap, be sure to look the declaration page over real well. I’m at 250K Agreed with Safeco and it’s 32000.

What Tom said. Right now those qualified insurance companies are having a field day because competition has been diminishing and they are charging like crazy for the coverage we need.

Double check your coverage to make sure your coach value is completely covered and that you are not giving up the protection you think you are getting. An ACV on a recently purchased coach is likely less of a risk of getting short changed because with a recent purchase you have a bill of sale proving the value, but you can bet the insurance company is going to use depreciation as a reason to come up with their interpretation of value.

I guess I should have said that I have my policy through Progressive Direct, but there shouldn’t be a huge difference in premiums vs through a broker. I haven’t seen the declarations page or the actual policy yet, but I’m going to read them carefully in light of Jon & Tom’s comments and the fact that NY State is one of the most restrictive regarding insurance. I actually called Progressive to complain about the rate as I felt it was way high!! I must be new at this Prevost stuff. Funny…….

Jimmy, try Progressive direct. you may get a surprise if you garage in NY.

One of the problems with insurance companies that do not regularly insure conversions or even know what a bus conversion is becomes how to communicate your needs in the even of a claim.

A conventional RV may be repairable both inside and out at a typical RV dealer. That is not the case with our coaches and even a small accident can do enough damage to make our national debt look small by comparison.

We are not going to take our coach to Camping World for repairs and our insurance company clearly knows and understands they are insuring a bus chassis and the custom interior as built by our converter. You just have to be certain the insurance company knows and understands you have a conversion, and if they need you to explain what a Prevost or a conversion is you have the wrong insurance company.

I wanted to let everyone know that Ron and I have connected.

I sincerely appreciate all the concern shown by the PC Forum members that I wasn’t responding and something might have been wrong with us. It was reassuring to have received all the calls, emails, and texts asking if we were OK, if we needed help, etc.

I’d especially like to call out the Prevost owner who stopped by our house while we were out of town and made the effort to go to our next door neighbor’s house when he didn’t get an answer at the door to inquire about our welfare. Neighbor Larry didn’t remember your name as he and a couple of other neighbors were apparently pretty ripped when you stopped.

    Thanks everyone!
