I was able to order just the rings from Marathon as Bernie suggested. I changed out 41 bulbs and now the AC Amp draw is next to nothing, the Marathon dimming functions work fine and no heat. It’s a real PIA getting the rings off and the LED’s back in, but well worth the effort. I used Hish’s suggestion to use a hose clamp to remove the rings and only broke 2. After cleaning up all the lenses, they get nasty after 12 yrs, they look great.

Nice looking and a great upgrade. What color is the light, warm or cool white ?

How many led bulps are in the bulb ?

Great job. I love the look of a nonslide coach with LED’s.

I am pretty sure i bought the same ones Tom used. Warm white, 24 leds on each bulb. One thing I noticed is when you are on the inverter with engine running at idle you can get a small amount of flicker, very hard to notice tho.

These are pretty nice and better than the ones I originally bought an installed, much better light, they do not dim as low as the traditional lights but also not a big deal.

I found using a big pair of channel locks to give the rings a lil squeeze would free up the stuck ones and didnt mar the finish on either, not that you would ever probably be able to see it anyways.

I know I’m well behind the curve but just got around to changing my interior lighting out to the LED’s. I used the round soft white G4 style and am happy so far. Dimming function still seems to work and Techlink seems unaffected. As I was warned in this thread I broke one of the trim rings in the process so I will be looking for the best source to replace it. Is Hafele direct or Marathon my best/cheapest source?

TG – I have an extra I can send you. I assume yours is same color as mine, 1st picture in this thread.

I paid $1each for the LED lights when I replaced all the ceiling light bulbs. They dim in steps!

to remove the rings, I made a tool of 2 x 2 x 8 and taped a piece of duct tape with sticky side up to the end. It easily removed the most stubborn rings.

Truk, I assume it is the same color. If not, I will use it under the kitchen cabinet and no one will ever have to know. I will email you my address. Thanks.

PS I don’t know why my picture loaded sideways.

    Grizz:

Where did you get the LED lights from?

Can you post a picture of the “tool” you made?

    Thanks!

We are traveling and don’t have the tool with me. Just take a spray can top with a flat surface and take a piece of duct tape criss-crossed upside down on that end (obviously long enough to fold down the sides of the wood) and wrap it on with duct tape. The sticky side out will grab the ring well and the wood gives you a good grip to twist the ring off. No marks or hand prints on the light rings or ceiling trim!

i got the LEDs from Preston Green at Marathon FL. I have no idea if he has more.

My memory not being very good anymore, I’d like to correct a previous statement.

it wasn’t a 2 x 2 that I used to remove the rings. (That’s what I was going to use, but found it to be too small.) I used the plastic top of a bug spray can with the tape that was almost as big as the rings. Yesterday, I found the can with the tape still on it. I apologize for the error.

We’re going to have to raise Grizz’s dues if this keeps up.

Grizz is so busy keeping everything in tip top shape on that coach he hasn’t been giving as much thought to these important issues as he should. Don’t we have something in the by-laws about that?
