Ok, I figured it out. I looked at the male plug and also voltage tested the leads. The positive conductors (2 black) are connected to terminals X and Y, which can’t be seen on either photo I provide in my earlier post but are visible on the sides of this particular socket. The neutral conductors (2 whites) are combined and connected to terminal Z. Finally the grounds (2 greens) are combined and connected to the terminal that is unlabelled and has the silver screw. Thanks to everyone for their help…..we are now able to serve up a hamburgers again.

That confirms that Liberty uses two separate 120V circuits and because all circuits have the neutrals (commons) and grounds shared only the two “hot” wires are separated. One of these days when I am curious I will look at my grill and see if the unit operates on 240 or just two separate 120 circuits. I think it is the latter.
