I spent quite a bit of time this weekend and could find nothing in print, or otherwise that says it is ok to run over 2100 RPM on a series 60. If someone has something in print from DD that says 2250 for no load (which would mean no Jake usage since that places a load on the engine), or 2500 RPM as the never, never exceed, lets see it.
Otherwise, I call out those claims as bullshit. If Detroit Diesel says it, in writing, then it would not be bullshit.

I’m with Ronald, I don’t understand all of it but I read it anyway because it’s all intended to help and inform. I’ve also been around long enough to know that everyone here is well intended. Let us not revert to personal attacks… Non of us learn from that!
Plus we all know when there’s a long thread with no mention of dues, it can’t be good!
You guys are the best,
Harry

Mark,
The 2,250 NL limit is on the placard on the side of the engine as stated several times. The 2,500 limit is in the owner’s manual.

Ive learned a lot from this thread, and the most important thing is to never buy a 2000 marathon #594.

I’m going to close this thread because it is clear no opinions are going to change and it has the potential to get ugly.
