Not an excuse, but I just took my highly polished, Liberty installed, stainless steel, carpeted sewer hose cabinet out of the spot over my chassis batteries and the only thing I have on the bulkhead is the Vanner equalizer. No Norgren valve.

Now I am really confused. Al, can you send me an email with your VIN number? I am going to do some further checking to see why two coaches nearly the same age and which apparently share a pneumatic diagram aren’t set up the same way.

I had a valve changed (not norgrem) in similar location last week – located just above right side engine compartment that connected with main rear air line for belt tensioner and upon further investigation, it was Liberty installed device for “clearing the back up camera” with air. Discovered the valve body had a hairline crack after changing o rings and still leaking… …

Don’t mean to hijack the discussion but why does the tag need to be messed with when moving the slide in or out?

As near as I can determine from conversations, dumping air in the tag prior to moving a slide in or out on a coach with Prevost slides imposes loads on the chassis frame (or removes them) so the slide is not binding.

All of this may be old wives tales or it may be the case. In any event it is part of the cycle and out of the operator’s control. When the button is pushed to move the slide it is just one of the steps in the sequence and is done every time.

    Thanks Jon.

That is probably similar to Roadmaster wanting our coach to be at ride height, not leveled, when moving the slides.

Some of our Monaco’ers don’t understand the stress put on a chassis when the leveling system works to offset a badly out of level parking spot. Our Signature has semi-monocoque construction with hydraulically actuated slides, somewhat similar to what Prevost does and that reduces the body flexing. Some of the cheapest Monaco chassis have significant flex and binding can be significant. Those owners sometimes think that being level is best so that their little electric slide motor does not have to work hard, binding be dammed. They tend to break gears and shear pins… 🙂
