Been flat towing the V6 diesel Grand 10 Years, no fuss, no problem. The key is the transfer case needs to be Quadra Drive II.

The Motorhome Magazine published towing guide for 2017 says: (2018 not out yet)

“Only four-wheel-drive vehicles equipped with Quadra-Trac II and Quadra-Drive II systems are towable. The transfer case must be shifted into NEUTRAL and the transmission must be in PARK for recreational towing. See owner’s manual for details.”

Does not mention anything about engine size.

The FMCA has their 2018 list out: (Paraphrased)

“JEEP MODEL TRANSMISSION AUTO MANUAL DRIVE CONFIGURATION SPEED/DISTANCE LIMITS APPROX CURB WEIGHT TOTAL LENGTH

Cherokee Four-wheel drive 3,953 lbs., length 182 in.

Grand Cherokee Four-wheel drive 4,625 lbs., length 189.8 in.

Wrangler JK (auto and manual trans) Four-wheel drive 4,075 lbs., length 164.3 in.

Wrangler JK 4-door (auto and manual trans) Four-wheel drive 4,277 lbs., length 184.9 in.

Only four-wheel-drive vehicles with a two-speed power transfer unit can be towed four wheels down; before towing, see an authorized Jeep dealer for the Mopar flat tow wiring kit. It’s recommended to charge the battery of the towed vehicle while towing. Only four-wheel-drive vehicles equipped with Quadra-Trac II/Quadra-Drive II (two-speed transfer case) can be towed four wheels down.”

No speed limitations.

Andy, you mentioned about towing the 2018 Lincoln Navigator and the FMCA towing guide says YES!

Navigator Four-wheel drive None 5,855 lbs., length 210 in.

Navigator L Four-wheel drive None 6,056 lbs., length 221.9 in.

1 Start the engine and allow it to run for five minutes at the beginning of each day and every six hours thereafter.

2 Disconnect the negative (black) cable from the battery. Start the engine within 15 minutes of reconnecting the battery cable.

3 Start the engine and allow it to run for one minute at the beginning of each day and every six hours thereafter.

4 Must be equipped with 4×4 LOW. Place the transfer case in the neutral position and engage the four-wheel-down towing feature. See owners manual.
