You The guy I bought my bus from, the 2nd owner, was a 35 year old technology kind of guy. He installed new flat screen TV’s in salon and master, new Convection/Microwave, new side by side refrigerator, new dash radio that does everything but the dishes and a TV projection system that takes what’s on the TV and projects it onto a huge screen that comes down from the ceiling.
He never intended to be off shore power or generator and eliminated all but two batteries. I’m planning to add two more after Jeff takes a look and decides the best way to do it.
My point is that my bus is not configured like most of yours. So my house bay looks different than what you’re use to no doubt.

So that picture is actually your house setup? You don’t have any inverter/charger with a remote inside your coach?

Yes sir Tom, that’s my house setup. The only switch I have in the coach is the one I switch from generator to shore power.

Well it seems I have egg on my face yet again… I found that the switch that turns my house batteries on and off must be ON for the bus to have full 50 amp service. I was told from the day I picked up the bus, when you turn off the engine turn off both coach and house batteries. And I have done that religiously! I was certain I had the house battery switch to off when I had 50 amp service before but that obviously was not the case.
Im sorry for all the good information you’ve provided me that I was unable to use. But because of your info I’ll know more of what to look for next time. Send me your address via email and I’ll send you an 8×10 glossy of me for your dartboard!

Harry our coaches had three Todd Converters hence the three outlets you see. I have the same three outlets. The Vanners in that bay are not for the engine but for the house Batts, I have the same. The right side of that bay I have 8 lifeline 4D’s on two sliders. My coach had the Todds changed over to three Freedom 58’s inverter/chargers.(I/C). Many of the AC lights in my coach only work off of the inverters, so if I want lights on I needs the I/C to be on for the required circuit. The I/C must be on Charge also if I want the house batts to be charged, which I do. As a minimum I must have the charger on to keep the batts charged. If I am not in the coach I leave the invert function off. I you have separate charger and inverters you should consider up grading. As smart as the previous owner was he failed to cough up the funds for a good electrical system.

Well, I’ve just taken the egg off my face. I went to my bus today and guess what? With the house batteries on, as stated in my in my last post, the DC side of the bus in again non functioning.
I always said that I turned the house and coach batteries off as soon as I shut the engine off and I now know I was right. I’m now back to being clueless to my problem? I went to the office and told the manager the next time I take a run. I want to plug into phase 1 (I’m parked in phase 2 and the only one there) thinking it may have a problem of some kind.
Someone said it’s your 50 amp cord is bad. So I had them move the cord and it made no impact. Some have said the inverter and maybe that’s it. But I still believe it’s the power in phase 2. I would have checked that theory today but the weather wasn’t cooperating.

Harry, You may not want to hear this but apparently the genius previous owner who absolutely screwed up a perfectly good Beaver electrical system has messed it up so bad you or someone is going to have to determine what is what.
Asking questions on the forum of owners whose electrical systems were designed using the logic and standards converters use is going to end up with you getting incorrect information and those who respond are going to get frustrated.
You do not have a system we are used to or even understand. You may have a system whose design will not even work as most of us use our systems, but may require different operating procedures. We may provide advice that may in fact cause damage or be a safety issue. Please take this serious and either experiment with your systems to learn what is going on, or get someone comfortable with electrical systems in coaches to understand it and guide you.
It is important that you understand the seriousness of your situation which at best may cause damage to your components and devices if used improperly, or worse, result in an electrical fire.

That’s good advice Jon. I’ve done what I can do (other than moving the bus to phase 1) and after that I’ll take it up for Jeff to take a look. But your advice is well taken.
