And you will kick yourself if you get home and find the non-leaky one that was replaced to be leaking.

A hub seal as used on our coaches on the drive axle is an inner and outer man made material that rotatess with respect to each other. Even if sitting there are no forces acting upon the two races. I think folks have a mental image of these getting a flat spot or maybe “drying” out, but I don’t believe either will happen. The hub is held precisely in position so the relative position of the two races when installed is a constant.

The hub seal material seems like a flexible plastic. I have not ever noted any cracks, wear or damage on any of the hub seals I have replaced. I am sure with scrutiny I could see why one has leaked but nothing was obviouis ever.

I have had one new one replaced immediately prior to my buying a coach. It was installed by someone else and leaked. I did not do the replacement of the replacement but that is why I am leery of replacing a good one

For what its worth,I picked up our coach in Phoinex with a leaking hub seal. I drove it to Omaha with no issues wich was 1350 miles.Gear lube was on the outside dual when i would stop,probally every 400 miles.I wiped it clean every stop and it would be there again,so i knew there was still lube in the bearings. However I replaced both axle seals and many other items with hand tools,That effort tends to want to pull your body apart!!
