Yes sir, you have a bad sensor. Both sensors should give you “counts within 5” of each other to account for the same temperature adjusted charge voltage. I would definitely put them on the same battery, middle of the 24v bank, when you are finished. Vantare used 4-conductor phone line to “extend” the temp sensors (or more accurately run wiring in the coach in the prep department, then used in-line phone cord couplers to make the connections. The couplers “invert” the wiring order, so when terminating the phone ends on the cable, they also had to “cris-cross” the end they put on. Sometimes, however, they didn’t adequately protect the couplers and connections from corrosion. You may want to locate these (in the battery area) and mechanically unplug then plug them back in and/or use contact cleaner on the phone cord ends and the coupler contacts and see what they read afterwords. The sensor may be fine, but the coupler could be fouled up such that you get an erronious reading.

Try that first, then look for another battery temp sensor for the SW-series. We have the correct items if you have trouble finding them. They are different than the ones used on current Xantrex products by the way.
