Don’t the headlights have relays already? (98XL) If you’re advising additional relays could you provide a simple diagram of their installation and location for us electrical retards? Larger wiring makes sense of course. A photo or two would be much appreciated also. Many thanks.

Just realized I did not post part #s here. They are on Bus Greasemonkey. Basic: 30 amp fused supply Batt direct. two relays one for high beam and one for low beam. Wire size increase plus better bulb sockets. danielsternlighting.com he will supply details and parts if you wish.Activated by signal from stock switch. It is his research plus my own measurements I cited. I have the ridgid Led fog lights also but find in my part of the country they get used little. It is Daniel opinion that led for headlights is not quiet there yet. Also the optics in the ford style lights are much of the problem even with the glass lens.. I felt I also needed to improve my main head lights as well as the addition of the fog upgrade. Everyone does it differant! We all take available info and make a decision for our use. Bought new headlight units from Prevost due to lenses being too crazed to polish. Decided on Superbright LED headlight bulb conversion. All went well until discovering I can’t get to the outside of the right H.L. enclosure. Is it open and accessable behind the stair well forward panel? Is that panel a PIA to remove? The power supply for the Superbrights needs to mount next to the wire access hole for the headlight. Thanks in advance.

On your XL do you have a large removable panel under the dash on the passenger side to access all the components that are in that area? I had a large access area on my XL because the whole lower panel pulled out. As an alternative can the entire light be pulled from the outside by removing some trim?

outside trim off: look past to headlight lens to stainless housing. If I remember 3 ea 7/16th head bolts hold the whole assembly in. evertthing comes out with mount–adjusters and all. 2 bolt to outside one on inside–long extention . Bob

An update FYI. I received Superbright marker LEDs and LED headlight conversion. Installing the marker lights was not a problem except Superbright does not sell backing gaskets. Since the lights don’t mount on a flat surface, rubber or foam gaskets are a must. NAPA has sticky back 2″ wide foam strip that serves nicely. The LEDs are a great improvement over the stock marker lights. Superbright customer service was good and shipping was fast.
The headlight conversion was a different kettle of fish. The adapter plugs that fit the original headlight sockets were very flimsy plastic and the locking tabs did not engage the sockets. The plug pins were very flimsy also and it took multiple attempts to engage the sockets after bending and re-bending the pins. I ended up permanently distorting one pin making the right side plug unusable. After finally getting voltage to the bulb pins on the left side, the built-in fan powered up but the light would not illuminate. Called Superbright’s tech support and the tech told me to send the kit back for a replacement. All in all I decided the kit was of such poor quality I requested a return for money back. The kit will be shipped today. Don’t anticipate any problem but will update if there is.
Called Daniel Stern lighting and was informed they don’t have any solutions for updating the 9004 bulb. They don’t recommend any of the Xenon replacements because the reflector design of the Ford headlamp isn’t designed for Xenon. That said, both Parliament and Marathon sell and will install Xenon conversion kits. They both claim a marked improvement. Since they are close by, will call Marathon today. More later.

FWIW….Replacement marker lights are available from TruckLit or Grote. Takes a little research to get exact part number but worth the time so the look will be factory.
Grote has a help number on there web sight.
I was able to find exact replacement of markers with the help of Truk4u from TruckLit which are available in red and amber with gaskets.
I don’t know what your markers and clearance lights look like.
Picture from TruckLit catalog ..Ours were Surface Mount so the lens and style is same Red or Amber.
