Recalling back to the research I did when were shopping for a coach and was deciding 40′ vs 45′ … I think 40′ had 160 gallons with an option for 98 additional and 45′ 20gallons (unsure of option). This might have changed from year to year at some point. I’d think that using our VIN#’s we should be able to go to the Prevost online manual for our respective coaches and get capacity of the tank the coach was built with.
On our 45′ Liberty, when I top off fuel it appears the first 300 to 400 miles that fuel does not cost me a dime as the fuel gauge stays pegged (apparently using NO fuel!). I don’t know what Liberty did to the coach after taking delivery to do the conversion, but it has to be part of their magic.
After the first 300 to 400 miles I think that gauge is about as inaccurate as the fuel gauges on every plane I’ve ever flown. If we’re going to be dry camping and running the generator and I’m close to 1/4 tank on the gauge, I’ll fuel up. So far no problem. Only time the generator ran out of fuel we were on on-even ground at a race track, I couldn’t get the coach level, and I forgot to turn the generator off when I went to the race.
I’ve found the Low Fuel warning light on our coach to be pretty accurate. When its solid “ON” while driving straight and level, I’ll put in 170 to 184 gallons in what I understand to be a 208 gallon tank.

We will be leaving Paso Robles on the 12th with a 1 night stop at Rincon before heading to Santa Ana on the 13th. No, not a lot of time, but worth while none the less. Maybe I can even get my sister who lives in Ventura to come visit!

CC definately has a 208 tank in the 1988 we owned but it’s becoming pretty clear that our 1998 only has a 160 tank. Not a big deal, just have to add a few extra stops when we are making some of our longer trips (ND to Paso Robles) but we still try to keep the daily drives to around 350 miles so it’s only a minor inconvenience. Additionally, the coach with the 208 tank only got 5.5 MPG and the new 160 tank gets close to 7 MPG so the total miles driven between fill up’s is pretty close.

I am not “from” ND (or anywhere). Have been full timing since 1997. I was working in Minot, ND. Now working in Atascadero and heading to Santa Ana next week. I am going to have to take some time off to have some surgery on a pinched nerve in my neck and then back on the road again!

My 93 Marathon XL 40 has 250 gals. 160 plus 90 gal in middle of bay 2.

Hi all,
My (new to me) 1995 H3-40 OTR Featherlite Vantare has a label on the fuel tank that reads 284 Gal. Plus the fresh water tank is 150 US gal with a 150 US gal “Holding tank”. No black or grey tanks at all.
I also admit to hauling weight around in the form of full fuel and water tanks for emergency purposes being somewhat of a preparer for the worst.

On fuel to confirm most people have 2 different tanks, do you have to switch tanks or are they connected?
I have a 97 liberty 45′

I am not aware of any fuel tank selector but I have not gone far with it due to travel restrictions.
