Ron, I hope you did not listen seriously to Jon when he speaks of polishing all his plumbing that is exposed. Did you “Polish” your fuel fill brass cap? If so, someone thought there was gold in them there fuel fill cubbies.

I am an Army vet and did cross my mind to polish that brass. Alas, and these days unless my bride specifically asks for it, I do not do it. After 36 years it keeps things simple that way.

You guys should have figured it out by now, but obviously you need guidance.

Men need their own time and place. Not that wives nag or find things for you to do if you hang around with them. So pick a few obvious things on the bus that you can polish and when you need to escape for a few hours to listen to talk radio, smoke a cigar, have a few beers, or just enjoy some quiet time claim you are going out to work on the bus. The polishing just makes it appear you are actually slaving away working on the bus. If it looks good, it clearly will run good.

“Going out to work on the bus” sounds important. It conveys the impression you might actually make it more reliable, safer, more comfortable or that you are doing a needed repair. No wife will quarrel with such a skilled husband and almost all wives will see your efforts to keep your home away from home in good shape as hard work and to be appreciated.

Polishing slack adjusters for example sounds very technical and important. If you add the word brake to slack adjusters it is clearly an important safety task. I can kill hours and hours doing nothing but polishing brake slack adjusters and not have to ever be concerned with taking out the garbage, fixing a dripping faucet in the house or getting roped into such tasks as shampooing carpets.

Very well said Jon. Very well said.

Jeff should attach your epistle to the invoice of every new customer.

Jon, every once in awhile you say something that actually makes me smile as I make the next dues payment. I know nothing good can come of my saying this but Jon, “That was brilliant”!

I thank The Good Lord my woman doesn’t mosey on over to the Forum.
