I can change the front end, but unable to post pictures upright…. sorry
-
Thanks. I also bought front bumper cap and was going back and forth on should I by all the stock supports and mounting for the upgrade from prevo at $$ or look to modify the original.
-
On your windshield change, did you modify the original by cutting out the cross supports or did you by a new front upper?
-
I replaced the complete front end. Bought the first 10 ft of a 2008, removed it and put it on my bus. Just taking out the middle bars won’t do it. the vertical bar of the 2008/double windshield has a different profile. The new window rubber won’t fit.

Some shops that updated front ends failed to consider the structural requirements of going to the new style front end and two windshields instead of four and there were issues with flexing and glass cracking.
Make sure any structural changes provide adequate strength.

Nice that’s a hell of a project just like mine I couldn’t find a good deal on a complete front cap so decided to do everything my self I’m with you on these shops that cut out the cross supports and fail to reinforce, I am adding reinforcements everywhere I can. I decided to modify my front bumper supports I couldn’t justify the money prevost wanted for them and these junk yards that do have parts are asking nearly full price same as new crazy! I was forced to do this as i hit a dear and damaged the driver front side.

I can’t comment on what other shops do, or fail to do when modifying from 4 to 2 windows. What I can say is that there are no structural differences between the old style and new style front end. There are some differences but nothing that got to do with the structure of the bus.
Fun fact, the old style is bolted to the frame with 30+ bolts. The new style has less than 10 bolts and 3 tubes of Sika 252.

Nice! So in your observation what your saying is if you just cut of the cross support for the 2 piece windshield and install the one piece you should be good?
-
What I am saying is that the 4 and 2 windshield fibreglass front ends unit mount the same way on the chassis and are not different structures. Can you just cut the bars out and call it a day? I don’t think it’s that simple. As I mentioned earlier the main vertical bar shape of the 2 windshield frame is significantly different than the 4 windshield. I don’t know if the height, width and curve would be exactly the same either.
I can see problems of cracking windshields or not proper secured windshields as mentioned earlier in this thread due to the differences in how the window rubber is mounted on the frame.
Go to Prevost CatBase and you will find very informative parts breakdowns that will show you exactly how it’s mounted.

I have a question maybe you can help me with is there any thing special that has to be done to wire in the new headlight harness or just Remove the old plugs and pin in the new harness?

Wired them in by modifying the old wiring into the 2008 style deutz connector. All works fine. I don’t have the new style headlights, but the round HID projectors.

Ralf,
Just for troubleshooting purposes, try starting the engine first before turning on the headlights. Second thing to try is remove the the DRL relay/module.
Lets us know if either works?
