Ron, Prevost has oriented the batteries differently on different vintages although the cabling set up has not changed. What I cannot tell you is which posts are used for ground and 24V or ground and 12V because I do not know your 4 battery configuration. Some were set up as two pairs but I know some other battery orientation was 3 in a row and one alongside.
They are set up so you have them cabled in parallel and series, with those in series providing the 24V.
But if you have equalizer issues it is entirely possible the 12V portion of your battery pack is not being charged. Measure the posts on the equalizers. The 12 volt post voltage should be exactly 1/2 of the 24 volt post within 1/2 degree. If you are not getting that ratio your equalizers may not have been keeping the 12 volt side charged and that is the possible starting issue.

Thanks, Jon. I have been looking at the Vanner manual that walks through how to test at the Equalizer posts. I am going to do that tomorrow the first chance I have.

Tested both Vanner 60-60 units that are connected in parallel. Unit one has 12.8 on the 12V post and 25.5 on the 24V post. The second unit has 12.8V on 12V post and 25.6V on the 24V post.
Will check each battery next.

testing my memory from 30 years ago. Did 92 series engines have a door in blower chamber that could be shut as an emergency shutdown, shut intake air off to the engine. had a small lever at one end of blower with a latch to hold it open, sometimes a solenoid to operate it. various safety shut downs would trip it.
I just dont think your problem is battery voltage, could be fuel delivery, several things there that can go wrong.

Based on your voltages I don’t think you have an issue with the equalizers or batteries that is preventing starting. There are a lot of things that can cause your problem so you or someone is going to have to methodically go through your coach to verify the ECM is getting power, it is well grounded, all the sensors are working, etc.
I presume you are getting fuel.

All,
We are such a small population that any response is appreciated.
I had doubts about the equalizers and the batteries. I spoke with Vanner service this afternoon and told them what I was seeing. They confirmed the equalizers are doing there job.
This afternoon I spoke with Eric Schwalm and to Craig Wickham. Both said it sounded like fuel delivery. Craig has me check the primary filter by opening a valve/cap on the top of the filter. When I opened I heard a little air escape. Closed it and tried to start again. Same result. Crank no start.
Craig then advised using ether. I did and she fired up on the first hit. Blew some good smoke out but set to a solid idle and never died. It is a beautiful sound and music to my ears. I ran her for solid two hours all over the place.
My thanks to Craig for calling me and staying on the phone for testing various ideas.
Tomorrow morning bright early I will make my way to the coach and see if she fires up. Either way, I will let the PC know. She starts she gets new tires. She doesn’t then the troubleshooting will continue.
Tammie and I send our deepest appreciation for the suggestions. Again, a special thanks the Craig staying in the phone to see his recommendation work.

Ron, hope you are all good. Follow up on what the issue was?

Hello, John. We believe there were air pockets in the fuel delivery. I have successfully fired her up many times since then.
Putting in a new backup/rear camera and monitor this weekend. The current one has died.
Thanks for checking in. Craig Wickham was on the phone with me quite a bit making suggestions on what to check when she was not firing up.

FWIW if your on a slope with less than a quarter tank. The wrong way sometimes the fuel inlet/pick up will be out of the fuel. Also the 8-V92 have transfer pump mounted of front of engine that I have had fail… Also I/many have put a 12 Volt diesel rated in line elect fuel pump in supply. This helps on prime problems and gets you off road if you have pump failure.. DDEC must have a direct battery + and minus power wires. A whole differant sub . If they pulled yours off vanner that could be your problem. If you want pin # I will give them to you. ddwc must have over 10.6 V @ 12 to function.

Thanks. She has no issue firing up now on the first hit of the key. Running strong.
In response to “. If you want pin # I will give them to you. ddwc must have over 10.6 V @ 12 to function“. Please do send to me via a PM.
