There is a entertainer coach leasing company in Arizona called Taylor Tours. We have sold them several engines over the years and they always conduct their installs at their shop. We also have had one or two clients who broke down in Calif that were towed to Taylor Tours for new engines. They don’t advertise their repair capabilities, but make sure you reference that American Fleet told you to give them a call. Ask for Mark.

Well I stopped by American Fleet to get the overhead run ,I want to thank all the people Bob and Brian and the tech Harry ,great service and great job I have a non EGR motor 12 .7 L series 60 with 128,000 miles it was out very little but was out just a bit , they did the job in three hours and did not have to do anything to the inside of bedroom what’s so ever all done from outside at motor, valve cover came right off , Great job guys thank you very much
Very glad we did not have to take anything apart inside

Huh. I wonder what dictates whether the work can be done without opening up the bedroom/closet or pulling the engine out of the coach.

It seems to depend on how much clearance you have to remove the valve cover. I guess every coach is different

Is every coach different? Or every model different? With respect to how easy it is to access the top of the engine.
Isn’t the roof of the engine compartment installed when the chassis is built by Prevost? Or do some of the converters modify the roof of the engine compartment?.

It depends on if it has jakes or not mine has the valve cover for jakes but has no jakes just the Trans retarder and has very little room but came right off with no problem
I was pretty sure mine would come right off because of no jakes and it did

Peter: Are you inferring that a Jake Brake could be retroactively installed on your coach?

What I am saying mine has the valve cover that comes with motors with jakes the only way to know if u don’t know is to run the serial number of the motor my coach does not have jakes but has the valve cover for one that does ,don’t know why ,it came that way from Prevost but when they looked at it they ran the serial number of the motor just to be sure because of the valve cover, I said it had no jakes but we run the number anyways just to be sure or we would have to take bedroom floor up, and we did not do anything inside coach

My XLII was a 14L and had a Jacobs brake and we had to remove the Prevost installed floor cutout to get the valve cover off. We looked at it before I pulled the interior out, and there is no way it would have come off without doing what I did.
There was no issue with my current “H”. More room and no Jacobs brake. I wonder if the 12.7 L engine is shorter? Maybe that is why Peter did not have to remove the floor plate…..

I would like to thank all who responded to my enguiry about running the overhead on a Series 60 in a XLII 2002.
Randy at Warner (Freightliner/Detroit) Truck Center Hurricane Utah, service manager said they had never performed one before on a bus. He did some calling and found out that the valve cover could be removed if there was no engine brake, After removeing all of the piping that is above and level with the top of the engine the cover slid off. With 96k miles, it was still very close.
Had the coolent replaced and a complete service on the engine and transmisson. Run the codes with required updates.
