Electrical Problem after wiring move

Rob have you run your “ear” along the circuit, to hear if there is any “clicking” of relays or “shorting noises? Can you disconnect power to the wires and do a continuity test to ground on the wires for shorts? Also is anything “wires” feeling warm to the touch were they shouldn’t be?

Getting ready to head out today so my time on the computer is somewhat limited. I will try to find your wiring diagram, but a word of caution. There may or may not have been service bulletins and if your coach has been subject to them you may have to work to a specific revision level. This is where you may have to play detective.
I am going to send a quick email to Prevost to see if someone can jump on here and answer your question better than me.

Recent ghost on other board engine would run 30 minutes shut down but would restart. Worked on it for months no codes showed low voltage to ddec at shut down . Actually coach was prob sold with (because) of ghost. End problem cracked breaker replaced all problems solved. The way it was discovered was by accident tracing system shaking -pulling on wires and tracing wires::. Breaker would test good ! But didn’t do job. Point being when all else scientific fails go back to basics and look for something out of place—bad connection loose wire cracked breaker visible corrision skinned wire. All things we know but I seam to forget sometimes. Prevost tech should be able to answer easily as I’m sure they have run into it many times. Do let us know result so we may learn.

Thanks for the updates guys. The batteries are all brand new as of 2 weeks ago. My old ones were going bad so I replaced all of them at one time. $430 for 4 series 37 batteries. 18 month full replacement warranty and 36 month prorata warranty. I just priced deep cycle batteries for the house system, optima gell cells, $199 each.
The vanner looks like it is working well. I didn’t think that the lose of volts from the rear at 12.56 to 11.87/11.74 at the front lights was that big of a deal but appaently it is. I will go chasing the wire but it is bundled in the PVC tunnel, so may not be possible. May just have to run new wires to the relays.
I will continue to look for the reasons for the erratic voltmeter fluctations if someone has any ideas where to check next, but I, not being an electrical expert by any means, don’t know where to look next.

Small world. Neat to know the one before mine is a motorhome and still running as that is what I am doing, converting mine to a motorhome. Lots of work and lots of man hours. Been working on mine now for the past 6 years to do the conversion. Mine was a casino runner before coming to live with me. The casino runner company in Vegas went bankrupt so the coach set in the Nev desert for 10 years while all the bankruptcy stuff got ironed out, then a casino runner in Jacksonville, FA bought it at auction. He drove it to FA, updated all the things on it and ran it for 6 months before bailing on the idea and put it for sale on the E place. I bought it from him and drove it to my home in Springfield, MO. It has 86,000 total miles on the frame and engine/trans since it set for so long in bankruptcy. I cut it apart hortizontally and raised it 9 inches like the factory MH version then welded it all back together and put new SS skin in place. 3,000 plus rivets later the skin is all on and the interior is 70+% complete. It has new paint and in a nother year, should be complete as a MH conversion, hopefully!!!
Sorry, I am not a computer geek, so I cannot help with the computer questions about font size. I just use the screen that comes up and it will have to do.

A friend told me of a trick to find bad connections in DC circuts,take a portable cheap transistor radio and tune it to AM but not on a station and move it along the wiring area of a boat,coach or car and static will pinpoint the area of a bad connection.I have never used this method but he was an excellent marine mechanic and he said that he learned this at a Regal Marine school in Orlando several years ago and he told me that it saved him many hours of searching for DC problems in boats.

An untrasonc leak detector will do the same thing, it “hears” the arcing in a bad connection, across bad contacts, and shorts.

Searching for air leaks justified the purchase of the ultrasonic leak detector. Like soapy water and a stethoscope it is just one of the ways to quickly identify leaks (as if leak detection is a quick process).
But it has other applications including early detection of a bad switch or circuit breaker, or even a bad connection. It’s not high tech unless you consider sticking on a head set and listening for a change in sound (accompanied by indicator lights on the unit) as high tech. High tech for me is a cell phone with voice mail or a VCR that doesn’t blink 12:00.

Just for grins you could hook up the wiring that you did not reconnect. Prevost has been known to use some system wiring to tie in with other systems. I had to completely rewire the chassis on a burned ’89 chassis, and you would not believe the way the wire numbers jumped from system to system…Unbelieveable.
Just a thought.
