    I have a quick question….

Does OTR air run on electric or does it run on diesel only?

OTR is like any AC system, only with significantly greater capacity.

The compressor is a 6 cylinder Carrier compressor that is belt driven by the engine. The condenser and evaporator have dedicated fans or blowers that are 24 volt DC powered. If you buy a new coach the condenser will have 4 fans mounted on the hinged condensing coil. The evaporator will have a dual “squirrel cage” blower for distributing the cooled air to the coach and drawing the return air.

As a side note Prevost has done an outstanding job of providing a pre-trip systems check on the entire system that in turn operates each fan or blower individually, operates the various solenoid valves, the unloader vales, etc. so with a walk around you can verify everything is working. Really neat the way it was set up and it parallels how the pre-trip light inspection works.

    Jon,

What year did they start the pre-trip component check?

I know it is only available with multiplex coaches, but I don’t know if it was available immediately. If I remember correctly multiplex coaches became available on the 2007 chassis year.

    Can anyone answer Tom’s question?
