If a Prevost does not have OTR, at a minimum it will be equipped with a small automotive type AC compressor to provide cooling at the front vents. When driving in hotter temps it is necessary if the only AC is driver’s air the house AC units will have to be used to keep the balance of the coach cool.

The 3 and 4 slide coaches will not have OTR air because of ducting,I just heard that a Liberty customer traded a new 3 slide for a new 2 slide because he was not happy without bus air.

If Driver’s air is Dash air, every coach in America has Driver’s air.

The name is what I found confusing as there is probably not a coach built today that doesn’t have dash air. It’s like saying the coach has a steering wheel.

Truk, I don’t mind not having OTR air as we don’t have it now and I want four slides. Our ‘driver’s air’ works fine until about 90-95 degrees (depending how long the drive is for the day), I’ll turn on the genny and run the roof air to keep us cool. At that time, I will have to cut the air speed down on the ‘driver’s air’ as the coach starts to cool down.

I would assume a new Liberty with four roof air conditioners and ‘driver’s air’ will cool just fine.

On a Liberty, OTR has two systems, the drivers air (front of bus dash area) and passenger or rather the entire bus from the driver/passenger compartment all the way to the rear on both sides. My question was for those in the know, what did Liberty do to cool the new 4 slide coaches while traveling, since there is no OTR.

I can give a partial answer in that I believe I can run two of my air conditioners through the inverter. My guess is on a 3 or 4 slide Liberty house AC will have to be used while driving and that at least 2 units will be run through inverters, or the other option is to start the generator and run as many as required.

YOU CAN RUN TWO ROOF AIRS OFF THE INVERTERS. WITH YOUR DASH/DRIVERS A/C ON AND TWO ROOF A/C’S, YOU WILL BE VERY COMFORTABLE IN 95-100 OUTSIDE.

Personally, I would find it hard to trade genuine Prevost OTR air conditioning for the few cubic feet of space that a couple of slide outs provide.

To me OTR air conditioning is one of the things that sets a Prevost bus apart from any number of similar sized plastic coaches.

10-4 on the OTR Prevost air. We don’t use the Gen Set much when we are traveling down the road. Even stopping whenever the wife feels like stopping , hit the fast idle and it’s frosty when you get back. Wouldn’t do without it and for you boys that have no OTR or dash air, what do you do if and when you have a generator problem heading somewhere, roll the windows down?

It is likely no surprise to anyone about how I feel about OTR. In case anyone missed it, let me make it clear that there is no way I would ever own a coach of the caliber of our conversions that did not have OTR. I think the claim that it is not needed is bogus because unless the generator is running and every house AC unit is powered up and running there is no way a non OTR coach is going to have comfortable temps on hot days throughout the coach. (Gil, feel free to jump in here, but if you do be sure to talk in terms of numbers of BTUs of cooling capacity)

Having made my position clear I can completely understand why some would opt for 4 slides and no OTR. In my opinion those would be coaches not driven much, but used mostly as second homes left in an RV resort for vacations or a winter season. If I owned an RV resort lot and spent winters in my coach on my lot I would have less need for OTR, and would want the additional storage however scant it actually is.

But I fully am in agreement with Paul not only because more than two slides eliminate the possibility of OTR, but because our 30″ slides are in my opnion more than ample, but because the added weight, complexity and future maintenance costs far outweigh any benefits except possible bragging rights.

Not being braggarts, We recently decided that because we had begun to use our coach a little differently, that we needed slides. After careful and much thought we figured out that we only use the bedroom to sleep and opted for a single slide. Jon finally convinced us that Prevo OTR should be standard equipment.

Being serious here in response to your tongue in cheek comment. You have to realize that almost every Prevost enthusiast or owner has competed in life to reach the position where they could afford a Prevost conversion. I suspect very few of us has not worked, struggled, competed and vied for success. So while for the most part we seem to shy away from making waves when we are alone and the only Prevost in the KOA, we are not above a little bragging and fun when we are together at rallies or on forums like this one.

In case you missed it look back on some of the posts where we engage in a little one upsmanship which for us Liberty owners is not difficult.

I’m going to count the minutes now before some Millennium or Marathon owner jumps all over that.

Understand Jon. Don’t have a million dollar coach here or close to it, but with mine still get comments on it at the campgrounds. It’s always been stored inside a barn and it looks as good as when it rolled off the Prevost paint line. No dents’ dings or scratches. Like to keep it that way.
