Joe,
I’m not clear on what you installed in the bay. The extended antenna requires a good ground and covering all but the tip in silicone could be your problem. I think the entire rubber ducky needs to be exposed. Like I said, I tried mounting under the steering bay with no success.

There is nothing inside the bay, it’s just a cable pass thru.
The dipole and ‘external’ antenna are clearly different. Jeff’s install looks like a lot of potential for cable snag which I was trying to avoid by dropping straight out of the bay.
I’ll cut back a little of the silicone and see it it makes a difference. If not I’ll try the external antenna.

When Pressure Pro realized the original antenna located inside and toward the rear of the coach was not performing adequately they came up with the antenna that should be located beneath the coach. Its fixed length provided the best signal. What was interesting was a comment about how and why the signals are picked up by the antenna. It was told to me by one of the engineers that the sensor signals are more easily received by the antenna if they can bounce off of something.
What was meant by that comment was the sensor signals are more likely to get “lost” if the coach is traveling on a road with wide open flat spaces all around the coach, such as on a featureless road with nothing on it. When the coach is on a road with concrete median barriers, bridges, other cars or trucks, etc the sensor signals are far more likely to be received.

This has been an interesting read. Could an old RG-59 antenna from my backup camera be used to carry this signal? I’m not looking forward to running anything front to back.

Chad, I am sure the Pressure Pro engineers can answer that. Given the amount of grief they have had with the problem of lost signals and various antennas I suspect they have learned a considerable amount about what works and what does not.
A lot of the problems I sense are the amount of metal our coaches have that has the potential to block signals because they do not seem to have as much lost signal issues with conventional RVs.
As to running an antenna I was able to do it with only one hole drilled in my steer compartment floor. I ran the antenna down into the steer compartment near the bottom of the windshield post trim. From the steer compartment I brought it outside and ran it behind the front fender trim, up and over the wheel well. Then I ran it straight back along the underside of the bays and over to where I attached it to the rear strap of the fuel tank. The antenna length is too short to run it front to rear through the conduits under the floor.

Chad, most all antennas are designed and tuned for certain frequencies and may not work on the Pressure Pro system. Have no idea what the frequency of the system is but it may help and it may not.
The antenna you have may pick up and transfer some of signal or enough to help with your problem.

To be clear, I’m only asking if the existing RG-59 coax cable could be used with an appropriate antenna. I replaced my 1984 backup camera yesterday with a wireless setup, and was wondering what I might use the old cable for.
EDIT: I see now that I said antenna instead of cable in my earlier post. I don’t think such an animal as an RG-59 antenna exists.

You would have to have an adapter or change out the fitting to the small SMA connector.

The cable itself is probably compatible and can be used if you can find the proper adapters needed. Sure would be easy if it will work.
