Yes, and it must be R-22.

I think the real PC expert on charging Cruiseairs is Jack F. but the general principle is to charge enough to get the coldest temp at the suction line at the condensing unit. You are looking for the greatest temperature spread between supply and return air at the evaporator.

Most use pressures to determine the correct refrigerant charge but Jack’s method seems to be the best by far.

R-22 is getting pretty expensive and it is not required. I just had an evaporator replaced and they used R-143A (maybe) when they recharged the system. I called AAP and they confirmed that this replacement freon was just fine.

I will check into the new Freon! Trying to get everything ready for the road this fall and beat the frozen tundra is a chore but saves down time on the road. It sure helps with the advice of everyone on the forum.

Hey all, I have managed to find all of the caps where you add Freon on all of the compressor’s except the forward ac unit. if im not mistaken it looks like it’s in the same area as the steering, Aux Compressor and all the air valves and there is no way to get to it unless you remove some flooring by the drivers seat. Am I missing something ? if its in there I will have to loose a lot more weight for sure.

To get at Liberty Cruiseairs, for the front one(s) drop the bumper. For the center one(s) either look for access through a panel at the rear of the front bay, or if not try removing the entertainment unit and panel from the second bay, passenger side.

Stumped: Did you try tilting the front bumper down? I think its back there.

I did not try tilting the front bumper, but will do that and see. the rest of them I found behind the panel in the first bay. I will now check the front bumper.

Protect the big bolt head and front bumper when you take the big bolt out to tilt the bumper down … but you probably knew that already.
