  • CREDIT CARDS WITH THE FUEL PROGRAM

Posted by needtocamp on February 13, 2016 at 2:06 pm

If you notice the wording for the title of this thread you might surmise progress has been made in allowing the use of credit cards with our fuel discount program.

First, you can now use your credit card to pay for fuel. You do not have to have a bank account from which to draw funds to pay for the fuel purchase.

Second, because the credit card companies charge fees to merchants for credit card purchases there will be no discount, but you will be able to use the credit card and get the cash price.

Here is how it will work. When you buy fuel, if you wish your credit card to pay for the fuel as opposed to permitting a withdrawal from a checking account Profit Tool must know of your preference. As it stands now we all provide a checking account number, and back it up with a credit card. From now on you will not need to provide a routing and account number because you may opt to have the refueling charges applied to your credit card.

You will use the card(s) provided by Profit Tools when you apply. The card will be used exactly as has been, except if the payment will be from your credit card company you will be charged the cash price of fuel. If your credit card offers cash back or has a rewards program those will still apply. So whatever cash back or bonus program your credit card offers becomes your discount. Profit Tools becomes the merchant and they bill your credit card company.

If you have held back from enrolling in the fuel discount program because you prefer to use your credit card, now is the time to enroll. If you do not own a Prevost begin the enrollment process. You will not get past the VIN number to the application, but as soon as we note you have applied we will provide you with an acceptable VIN to get you to the application. We will email your new VIN, and edit the one you have used to apply.

Just a reminder, the program cards issued by Profit Tool will require you to provide two “PIN” numbers. One will be called the driver number and the second the unit number. These are yours and your alone and you should treat them as password, not sharing that information with anyone. When you complete the button pushing at the pump and the pump is turned on, pump your fuel and just drive away. There is no need to go into the truck stop or leave the side of your coach. Your receipt for the purchase will be emailed. The cards will work only at the truck islands. There is a $1 charge for refueling less than 100 gallons.

Make Alicia aware you prefer to use a credit card and that’s how you will pay for the fuel. You will get the same notification as we all get now after the sale. If you already are enrolled and you want to switch to credit card pay, contact Alicia. Her number is 603-659-3822

Alicia can also be contacted via email aallen

This is good news. If I were stopping at Love’s all of the time or even most of the time, then the rewards from the credit card would not make up for losing the 10 cent Love’s discount. However, since I rarely fuel at Love’s, I have already forfeited that discount and I will welcome the rewards from my card.

Thanks to all responsibile for working this out. It has been said many times but the fuel and go option makes the card worth it and the rest is icing on the cake.

If we want our card to stay attached to the checking account, as it is, do we need to do anything?

It’s simple, get cash price, never go inside and get your credit card discount/rebate as usual for having the fuel charged to your credit card.

If you are already participating in the fuel discount program and you will continue having the fuel payment drawn from a checking account, do nothing.

If you are already participating in the fuel discount program and you wish to switch over to credit card payment contact Alicia at Profit Tools. The contact information is in the first posts.

If you are not already participating, sign up using the links on the discount program on the main forum page and contact Profit Tool to select the payment method.

Love the program and have used it all the way to FL from KS.

However, there are not that many Love’s Truck Stores in Florida. Had to stop at a Flying J or go significantly out of my way to get to a Love’s here in Florida.

However, will stick with them debiting my bank account. Greater savings than my cc rewards program.

Everybody should keep in mind the fuel discount program has two significant benefits whether you debit your checking account or opt to use credit card pay.

There is no substitute for the convenience of using a very safe card provided by Profit Tools to start the pump, allow you to refuel, and just drive away. You don’t have to stand in line, you don’t have to allow a cashier to hold your credit card or cash. You swipe the card, enter two four digit code numbers only you know, pump, and go.

The second benefit we don’t talk about enough is the safety aspect. In a recent thread we read about rest stop shenanigans and the same holds true anywhere we stop. With the fuel program cards we can step out of the coach with no money or credit cards on us, lock the coach, never leave the side of the coach while fueling, and get back in the coach and go. The cards when used cause the machine to ask for a driver’s ID number and a truck number, bot being 4 digits that you create. Even if someone manages to get your cards the 2 four digit numbers must be known. Then the cards are only good on fuel pumps at truck islands. They are useless and of no value at any other locations. So when I fuel I have no money, no wallet, no credit cards. My coach is locked and I am next to it at all times while fueling.

It is pretty tough to beat the convenience of the use of the card, but it also tough to beat the security we have when we do use the cards.

If you don’t use the cards, now is the time to sign up and get the benefits they offer.

Well darn-it… tried to sign up with my credit card and the app will not let me continue. After the first failure a year ago, I just never tried it again.

I have a call into Alicia to see if I can sign up with her. The app still requires that you put in checking acct. info which I do not want to do.

Debbie said the app has not been updated yet.

    Maybe tomorrow.

Hang in there boy’s, Alicia is working hard to change the sign-up so you can do the credit card or checking debit.

We’ll let everyone know as soon as it’s ready.

I’m now officially a member of the fuel discount program!

I bit the bullet and decided to go with the FULL discount program by using my checking acct.

It is going to be a pleasure to swipe at the pump and go. Fueling is one of my least favorite things to do, now it will get better!

Thanks to the Alicia and Debbie for getting everything straighten out!

    Mark,

You will like the program even more being completely sold the first time you refuel in a pouring rain in 20 minutes.

    Mark,

The first time using the card at Loves, swiping ,fueling, snap a phone photo of pump amount, drive off. We kept looking over our shoulder looking to see if someone called the cops for a “drive away”. It’s still feels funny not having to walk twice to the fuel desk, and just driving off after fueling. Snicker, snicker!

I’m SO happy I found this fueling program!!! The requirement to go into the store to pepay or deal with the cashier was a pain in the @$$. It took a couple of visit to get accoustom to being asked how gallons or how much. All I wanted to do was FILL the tank!!!! The fact they couldn’t do simple math went from frustrating to a game. Confuse the cashier!! Oh okay “2/3’s of $500 should do it” Or “No more than a 1/4 of grand it’s a splash and dash”!! I guess I was a couple of days ahead of the credit card deal. I literally submitted my application yesterday!! Either way checking account or credit card I’m sure it’s going to be GREAT!!! What a concept pay at the pump!!!

P.S. By the way I can’t wait to pick up our first ever Prevost next Thursday in Stuart, FL!!!
