Coach Use

I have to agree with Gil, I thought my CC was a complex beast with the mother and daughter boards until I saw a new H3 at Prevost in Fort Worth a few weeks back.
The owner is a NASCAR sponser, well known and a decent gent to chat with, we talked at length about coaches for several hours. The coach was in for a double windscreen change and the Prevost Tech’s agreed to look at some of the systems; they were not enjoying themselves. Now I have seen loaded up coaches before but this one took the grand prize! All that stuff, adaptive cruise, forward looking radar, cameras at every angle that could be tapped into by the owner from anywhere in the world. WiFi, anywhere the coach went, with no visible satellite antenna, slides everywhere, marble floors, granite this and that, bathtub with Jacuzzi and a big screen tv in case one gets bored in the tub. The onboard computer talks to his I Pad’s (plural), no Crestron’s here. He tows a 30 foot stacker trailer with Golf Cart on the top and a Mini on the bottom with a separate party room in front, also with the latest stereo, television combinations..60 inch tv and pool table (not regulation) and its own Powertech to run all the things. The only thing that was missing was the Wolfe Range, believe me when I say everything else was there! It even had a dog kennel for the mutts when he goes bird hunting.
It didn’t take too long for the owner to tire from sitting in Ft. Worth so he summoned his business jet to come and pick him up and to bring his driver to take the coach back to Houston when finished….for some reason he is of the opinion that Prevost Ft. Worth is better. I have no idea what his capital investment was in the coach, suffice to say, a bunch.
All that said I was surprised at how much the man knew about the coach top to bottom, inside and out…he was no mans fool in that regard. Obviously he was in a no compromise position, lucky for him. For the rest of us commoners, we just have to pick up the cast off’s. Aside from that, that coach was way to complex for my aging brain…very nice however!

I would like the weight of my first coach, the mileage of my second coach and the slides of my current coach. I want the bay space of my second coach, the simplicity of my first coach and the silence and quality of my current coach.

For what its worth, my Marathon XL2DS has much more bay storage than my 1997 Liberty. The newer one has a full bay plus two (almost) half bays that are invaluable. The inside storage, however, isn’t quite as much. Still, however, despite our concern, there is plenty of room for everything we need.
We’re carrying more stuff than we need, and I hope to correct that this winter while we’re home. It’s not the weight that’s the problem, it’s the clutter. One bonus, however, is that we’re a lot less likely to buy something at an Antique shop since there really isn’t anywhere to put it 🙂
I’m not happy about the weight of the double-slide. The old coach carried about 90 pounds per horsepower and the new one nearly 110. So, the big, newer coach is a bit sluggish by comparison. Still, I wouldn’t trade back!

Fred, to get the space you gave up OTR and long range fuel. plus you switched Cruise airs for roof airs.

Just found this thread and realized it is a continuation of my earlier post and questions. Heidi and I drove through the KOA tonight , stopped and visited with Rex from Panterra for a few minutes. Can’t wait to come down tomorrow and meet everyone. All that stainless sure looked awfully pretty.

Keep thinking that way Dean. Don’t let those H3 folks try to convince you their plastic coaches look better.
