I’m a bit confused on your balance light and your determination that all is now well. It could be or, as pointed out, it will return or the equalizer monitor is bad (not unusual). To determine if your equalizers are working, you need to verify that you are reading within a 1/2 a volt or so of half the 24V reading coming from the battery bank. You need to read this between the 0 and 12V terminals of the equalizer and the 12V and 24V terminals. With new batteries, this reading will not tell you a thing until the 12V loads have put a significant load on the battery bank. A better follow-on reading after reading the voltage is to measure the current on the 12V and then the 24V terminal connected wires. They should be pretty close to the same. Not everyone has a DC clamp-on ampmeter, so this is not always possible to read.

Gil, my buddy did all those checks and everything was right on the mark. He checked every system on the bus and it was all right where it should be. He even said he wished he could get that kind of consistent power on his Silver Eagle. I took the bus down to Bruce at Vulcan last week and he checked everything and reverified it. The only issue was the low power coming out of the inverter. That turned out to be a ground issue. So everything is working fine now. Unfortunately, it cost me $750 for Bruce to find the problem, plus $400 for fuel. For the $1150 I spent, I wish I’d just bought a new inverter. But now I have a working 20 year old inverter. Hindsight, I guess…
