Thanks everyone, for all this input… it’s very helpful to us.

glens: the brand on my monitor says “KG Rear Vision” and a Google search yielded no pertinent info other than an RV forum where someone else is having a similar problem (jumpy screen view). No indication that KG is still a company in operation. I’m finding that this is a theme when trying to find things on my vintage Marathon. Often the original supplier is no longer in business or no longer is tooled up to make that particular item.

Gerald: I hear you on the camera with infrared LED… ran into the same thing when I tried using a security camera looking out through a window in the house.

Jeff and Chuck: not sure I’m ready to take the leap for tilt/pan technology, running new harness etc. but it sounds like a beautiful system.

Fred, although my monitor is not a sony, it’s possible that RV Cams Kit might work if I decide to keep the existing b/w camera so thanks for the link.

MorPrevost90: Good to hear your wireless setup works; I was thinking an RF transmitter signal might not work well at 40 ft. distance and having to travel thru so much stuff inbetween

Jon: I feel your pain on the solar panel effect when driving into the sun, BTDT! With this particular monitor placement, I don’t notice a reflection problem and I suspect that part of my dash is at a different angle than yours. But I agree with your thought of looking at as many monitors as possible before making a change.

John B: We recently visited a local shop that specializes in automotive radios, cameras… they do everything. The guy showed us one of those pop-out, pop-up touch-screen displays and it looked way more complicated than we would want to deal with while driving.

So, I think we’ll hold off on any camera/monitor upgrading until we learn more.

Don’t drive at night!

Not driving at night was a given with the original headlights. But then I upgraded the lights to LED bulbs with new reflectors and now I can actually see down the road just not behind me at night.

For years my cunning plan was to crawl back into our master closet, dig out that rear view camera and spray paint the LEDs black. Three or four coats should do it. One of these days…
