I use the auto-flow vs. gravity fill so I can use the whole-house filter. My gravity fill does not have a filter on it.

Guess I’ll have to change out the solenoid.

If I’m not mistaken (I’m sure Jon will chime in) the way Liberty’s are built, we ONLY pull water from the fresh water tank. Connecting to shore water only fills the tank. All of the water will go through the filters first before it comes out of the faucets.

Marathon coaches may be set-up different. The only two filters that all my water goes thru is my exterior refrigerator filter and my frigerator interior filter. But my whole-house filter, connected to my auto-fill, is on the other side of the bus from my fresh water gravity fill.

3 hours is way too long. You must have a constriction somewhere. MAybe a calcified up valve. I use the portable softener to try to prevent that.

Mark is correct about Liberty coaches and the full time use of the water pump.

I believe city water can be used and the pump turned off, but the Headhunter toilet requires a high pressure high flow of water and not all city water connections can deliever the required volume or pressure.

Tim, If manually filling takes less time than the auto fill it would appear your coach has two paths for water and the one used for auto fill does have some flow restriction that is unique to the autofill. If you want to use auto-fill you are going to have to determine what the potential for a restriction can be. It could be a valve not fully opening or it could be a small screen ahead of a valve that has blockage.

I put a toggle switch on my autofill solenoid because my techlink auto-fill doesn’t work, likely a problem with the Node Relay and I just haven’t had the chance to fix it. I let it fill until it runs out the overflow assuring a full tank. I only mention this because when I throw the switch, you can hear a big blast of water entering the tank verifying the solenoid has fully opened.

I can hear it fill, but certainly very slowly. It’s either a bad solenoid or there is a screen with severe blockage. I’ll take a look for a screen first before the solenoid.

Here’s a pic of my solenoid for my auto-fill, althgough it’s turned to the right in the photo (Admin feel free to turn it if you so desire 🙂

It “clicks” when I hit the auto-fill button, but I’m not sure there is anyway to tell if it’s blocked or only paritally opening.

If I have to order a new one, anyone have a good place to order this general solenoid valve?

Solenoid valves are getting to be a commodity. The key to replacement is to find one that has the same dimensions for connections and mounting so you do not have to modify your existing plumbing or mounting brackets. But if there is a huge price difference sometimes the extra effort is worth it.

Make sure the coil is the same voltage, make sure its rating is the same such as continuous duty or temperature rating, and obviously you want the same orfice size. I usually do an internet search and find inexpensive solenoid valves with the same specs as the original.
