If it pops again, I think I’ll just replace the thermostat. After removing the four wires, looks like my thermostat just pops out of the bracket. You can just pick them up at Home Depot or local hardware store. I don’t think they go bad that often; however, for $10-$20, it would be worth it.

As a follow-up, my reset button popped again, so I’m replacing my thermostat with a Camco 08304 Commercial Thermostat, which Marathon uses on their new Atwood Water Heater’s.
The only difference between this new Camco and my old “Therm-O-Disc” unit is the temperature setting.
My old thermostat was set at 140 degrees, in the middle of the dial, with a max temperature of 170 degrees.
This new Camco thermostat is set in the middle at 150 degrees, with a max temperature of 180 degrees, probably because it’s for commercial use.
Anyone else setting their water heater thermostat at 150 degrees?

That is pretty hot. A long time ago when we were doing development work on scub sinks used in hospitals by surgeons controlling temps to protect their hands was critical. We found that almost nobody can put their hands in 115 degree F water without getting burned.
If you want to see what is tolerable heat up some water and as the temp rises measure the temp when you get to a temperature that is too hot for your hands. I modified the controls for my HW tank so that when it is heated with engine coolant via the engine or Webasto its temp setting is 125, which coincidently is the same as the factory setting for the electric heating element. I no long have to worry about someone drawing water and getting burned in my coach because when blended with a little cold water the temp is safe.
A lower temp also saves energy.

my wife takes long showers so I have the Raratin 20 gallon water heater set at 150 as well as a tankless water heater in line set to the maximum which will allow both of us to take long showers.

You want your WH set at least on 140 degrees to kill bacteria when washing dishes. Atwood presets their WH’s at 140 degrees, but I also set my new commercial thermostat at 150 degrees. So far so good…

Tim, when thermostat ,needed resetting was the button easy to push? not sure if mine is tripped or not?

Also possible thermostat is not bad; simply engine coolant loop overheating water heater and tripping thermostat.

Joe/Joel, I think you mentioned that in the other thread, ,Mine do not appear to be “tripped” ran out of time to check voltage/amperage.
