    Diane,

Maybe you need to get creative.

First, take the plug closest to the size needed and open it up and see how much plastic can be shaved or ground off without compromising the strength or its ability to provide shielding for the electric going through it. If you aren’t comfortable doing that ask one of the electricians that you or Larry knows if he feels safe removing some material to shrink it down. The fact the Glendenning plug is smaller tells me that material can be removed without adversely impacting safety.

Once that material is removed see if the plug works. If it is close, a few 32nds of length from the prongs can be removed because the power is not carried through the ends of the prongs, but up along the sides of the prongs. You just want to be sure you have lost no contact length.

    Problem solved.

BTW I never said the above, never intended for you or anyone to void the UL certification on the plug or violate any of the local electrical codes. I was just talking out loud.

These are are 3 of the 5 that won’t work … the one on the left is the one Liberty thought would work… just a tiny bit too thick… blades miss clearing by a smidgen.. middle huge from Home Depot… One on right Jeff thought might work but it too is just a smidgen too thick… the blades won’t clear the inlet.??

Thanks Jeff… I had found that same one RP-501 on Ebay and it looked like it would fit… not quite !! Still in high hopes of a miracle plug somewhere.

    Cheers, Diane

Ok… I just talked to Jeff at Liberty and he said it does fit and put me through to the shop guy that does those and he said he takes 1/4″ off the blades sands the entire plastic housing lightly then paints it and its like new again. He said it will take about an hour.

I then called our electrician (he’s good) and he is now doing the blades… I switched over to the one that Jeff Rowe recommended as it has a larger opening for the cord and will be a better fit I think…also the housing is smooth…if not it’s no big deal to change to the Liberty one… He thinks he doesn’t need to take the whole 1/4″ off, so we are going a little at a time to see how it goes …

I will post a picture when done !! Fingers crossed !

    Cheers, Diane

    All is well !!

We used the plug that I had bought on Ebay a week ago and it just so happened to be the one that Jeff said would work and with a little modification it is perfect.

My electrician is a perfectionist and with his Dremel he sat and slowly ground the blades down a little at a time and then filed the edges smooth took of a little less than 1/8th” then it moved freely in and out… also didn’t need to remove the little handle which will be handy to have. Didn’t need to make any adjustments to the stop collar either.

I am ordering another one on Ebay tonite I think it was less than $20 including shipping and will have my electrician prepare it just like the other one for a spare…so if anyone wants one ready to go I can order extra ones and have him prepare them and bring them to OKC or mail to you. Not sure how many coaches have this same setup but it has

been a PIA sorting it all out.

I am one happy camper today… thanks everyone for your comments !!

    Jeff Rowe ….

you were right on the money again … thank-you !!

    Jon…

I had thought about shortening the blades but was scared to… then Liberty said 1/4″ which seemed like a lot but with the plug from Lowes it may have taken that much…. Jeff’s plug took a lot less work and is a much better quality plug… I will forward these pictures to Liberty so they will see how much better this one is.

    Again thanks to all,

    Cheers, Diane

I will let you know when it’s done via email and get your address then mail it to you.

I don’t think Jim was upset, just wanted to no what product made the fix. Many times people post about a fix and the end of the story is “we fix it and all is well”. No how or what or cost. That the way I read Jim’s comment.
