I converted mine about 3 years ago and really liked them at first. The shop that converted mine the first time had them rigged where low beam would stay on when the lights were in high beam. Really bright, but I started haveing trouble with the low beams going on and off so the converter sent me a new ballast. Worked for a while then started the same thing. And another problem was the internal mounting structure was made out of a too light a metal and the head lamps would not stay aligned properly.
Well after fighting them for about a year and going completely out one night and haveing to drive with my fog lamps on, I contacted another converter and after looking at his work and how he did his, I had him redo my lights again.
No problem since I had it redone. I think one thing we found out that might have been part of the trouble was the first converter had my low beams running with the Prevost Day Time Running lights which steps down the voltage to the head lamps and according to Hela, you can not reduce the voltage to the ballast of the low beams without damaging them. So the only problem with using my high beams for the DTR lights is you can’t flash your lights for truckers and the like that they can pull back into your lane.
The white HID lights I now have are very bright.
