I have a 2000 XL2 with the awning type windows. I repaired two of them. One of them had the problem in the small 90 degree gearbox and the other was the vertical shaft you can see where the window linkage attaches. Both cases were that the gears (both the gearbox and vertical shaft) are only tack welded to their respective shafts. All the shafts and gears are stainless steel and a TIG torch was used. I brought the parts to a local welding shop and $20 later it was done. The welder TIG welded the part 360 degrees around. Getting the out was a relatively easy but time consuming. In both cases the vertical shaft has to be removed. The linkage snaps into the brass block by a spring loaded latch. A thin straight screwdriver can be used to push the latch over and release the attachment. To get the shaft out, the block that the top of the shaft rides in is secured to the frome by one small screw that you have to access from the inside. I had to remove the interior trim to get to the screw. Once you slide the block up the shaft will slide up out of the 90 degree gearbox on the bottom. The hard part is in order to remove the shaft from the framework the threaded block has to be “unscrewed” from the shaft and also slid up to clear the shaft. The sliding block that the worm gear drives is not able to be removed from the track. It has to be threaded up off the shaft.

The 90 degree gearbox is held in place by 4 screws from the inside. Once the vertical shaft is pulled out of the gearbox, it will slide out to the interior. The same problem with broken tack welds were inside. The input shaft spun but the vertical shaft didn’t.

I did have a problem wit the sliding block and worm gear. Because the tack welds broke and allowed the shaft to spin, it damaged the last thread of the worm gear and was not able to get the block unthreaded from the shaft. I had to remove a small section of the channel that the block slid in and pivot it out while still attached to the shaft. The window with the gearbox problem was no problem.

The November Prevost event in Brenham had to change rv parks to accommodate all the folks attending. The smaller park refunded all the money automatically.

We have a Wineguard t4 in motion paired with Dish. It may be different now, but not all dish receivers were compatible (we had to use a dish Vip 211 receiver, $7). We have four receivers in the house; if we wanted to bring in the 211, it could also be connected and used in the house. Local channels are easy to change to your location ($12).
