Zip Dee Pull Down Straps
We have the old manual Zip Dee awnings. We came back to the coach yesterday and found the pull down strap on the driver-side large window awning had torn off probably due to a wind gust.
How are these pull straps fastened to the awning? The Zip Dee drawings do not show any details. Are they riveted to the awning tube? Has anybody replaced one of those?

I have replaced all of ours . They are riveted to the tube . You need to measure the length and provide to color to Zip-Dee . They will ship you one out . Would be a good project to do at a Rally 🙂

The rivets pulled out of one of my straps. I had a tarp maker sew new material on the rivet end of the strap and then re-attached using SS screws and washers to spread the load on the material.

If you will take the rivets they send with the new straps to a hardware store and find aluminum or stainless washers to put on the rivets when you use them this will help give more support and hold on the material.

You say straps pulled loose. I am confused the straps are what you attach a hook to to pull the awning down. You say it is pulled from tube, That to me means the complete awning detached from tube.

The awning itself still seems fine, it is just the strap you use to pull the awning down and then fasten to the hook is gone. First I thought the strap was sewn to the awning material, but as everyone indicates it is just riveted to tube.
