Zip Dee awning velcro
Posted by Jim on April 14, 2019 at 7:21 pmThere are some Velcro like straps on the arms of my awning.
One of them has torn in two/
I do not see reference to any straps in the manual.Did previous owner add to stop rattle? Opinion on if necessary?
Source for replacement ( these are a light gray instead of black or white that I usually see.)
Thanks

Jim,
I added Velcro straps to my main zip dee awning to keep them tight while underway. Probably not necessary but I get more peace of mind knowing that the arms are secure.

I put Velcro straps on every bus I had with manual zip dee’s, keeps the arms tight.

Best thing I did is the Zip Dee reversing kit no more ladders much easier. Straps just keeps arms tight. Does not hurt.

Art,
I am interested in more info on the reversing arms. How difficult a job was it?
Did you do it yourself? I hate opening our awning now.

John, Like Art, I have my stretcher arms reversed which allows my 5′ 7″ reach to put my awning up and down from on the ground easily.
The stretcher arm is removed from the axle of the awning, turned 180 degrees and affixed to the top of the coach at the level of the axle. So instead of trying to put the arm into the fitting at the top of the awning, it now goes to the axle of the fully extended awning which is down low.
Zip Dee did my reversal when they still did repairs at the factory.

If you look on Zip Dee’s website look for reversing kit, I think it was 200 and some bucks, new arms and some other parts made to fit XL1 Prevost. I installed my own, not to difficult, Now when you pull out awning you grab new upper rafter already attached on top you grab it and the claw goes over roller tube end where the old rod went all the way around same spot.
