I offered to take my niece on a day trip with her 3
children about 1.5 hours one way. She asked if she could bring
some friends. I asked how many. When all was said and done, the answer was 4
    parents and 10 children ages 2 – 10.
    Yikes!

    My first reaction was we’re
not set up like a Greyhound. The response
was the kids can lay on the bed and bunks. I actually only have 1 seatbelt for the
copilot and 3 seatbelts on the couch. My
last response was we need to go through the coach together and we’ll see how
many grown-ups and kids can realistically travel safely.

    Mmmm???? I’m actually
concerned about the liability heaven forbid.
It will be easy for me to say no to her, but I’d rather blame it on you
folks, the PC members who are all very smart and experienced Prevost owners. Your feedback is appreciated.

I don’t know your experience level, but I do know even though I have a few miles of driving under my belt what you described might be a challenge, and maybe dangerous.

You are certainly going to be distracted. If it isn’t the kids capturing your attention, it will be adults wanting to talk about the bus or how to flush the toilet. You don’t need to have your concentration on driving split worrying about who will come flying in a panic stop, who is doing things they should not, or what those strange noises are.

Even just adults can be a challenge. Places for seating aside, I think the confusion could set up a dangerous situation.

Keep in mind I’m as old as Tom and we senior citizens don’t do as well as we did when we were raising our own kids.

For us … no seat belt, no ride.

We know of a case where grandma was sitting on the bed with grandson going down the road. Grandpa had to hit the brakes. Grandma hit the wall and broke her neck.

My concern would be who would provide adult supervision for all those kids. We had some acquantances over several years ago, and the 10-year old son started opening drawers in our family room, just nosing around. When my wife stopped him, his mom got upset my wife talked to her son. In the house, that is bad enough, in the coach, it could have bad ramifications. Adult supervision is a rare commodity these days, and I would not want anyone in the coach I did not know and trust.

Love kids but no way. Took a few kids and couple parents and dropped off about 3 hours south in Rockport Tx.a couple years back and wifey said if I ever put her in that prediament again I would be toast. Somehow parents just don’t get it nowadays about “shut up and sit down”. You would be a wreck even if you didn’t have one! My 2 cents. Had one ask about another ride into Austin last year and drop off at parents house and pizzed her off when I said sure with duck tape in the deal.

Short and Sweet. I would NOT do
it. Too many distractions. A panic stop and a 2 or 3 year old flies from
the kitchen and bounces off the windshield. You would live with that the
rest of your life. Not worth the chance.

    While the “adults” will say
that they will watch the kids, you are talking about 3 hours total. It
ain’t gonna happen as the adults will get distracted. The little one will
not be watching the scenery. Unless you
have unlimited data on your Mi-Fi and everyone has a phone or tablet connected
to keep them busy. Plus, they will be
flushing the toilet, or some adult flushes a full diaper.

    Blame
it on me. You can pay my dues for the next few years as payment.

We had a two Grandkid rule. Did four once and things started getting out of control and Grandma had to lay down the law.

I like the way that Colt thinks. I’m guessing he means all of them, including the adults.
