XL:II Wiper Motor Repair
After motor removal we found out that Bosch did not intent it to be taken apart. The armature shaft is retained with a one way retainer preventing its removal ( except with large arbor press ) If anyone desires to make this repair there are a few things you need to know before beginning. There is a thrust screw at end of shaft, remove screw then with a dentist pick remove nylon wear plug in end of shaft (I didnt). Remove brush springs and brushes ( do this over a white sheet as the springs are hard to remove) In large arbor press shaft out of housing ( almost distroying one way retainer) Be careful with brush holder. Bearing has 2 snap rings. Replace bearing, with vicegrips reconform oneway washer to fit, replace snapring only on brush side of bearing and replace shaft in housing, tapping washer into bore. (afterthought- should had used bearing locker) but thrust is in opposit direction. After bearing is seated install other snap ring on worm side. It may take some time tapping snapring and making sure its seated. Reasemble brush holder. Almost the hardest part and most xxxxing was inserting shell over armature ( Permanent Magnets ) Found only way was tap with short 2×4. Insert nuts with clamping needlenose plyers and attach screws. Guess what you will have to do if you drop 1 nut?. Insert thrust wear cone in shaft end, screw thrust screw ( with lock tite ) Start motor (24V) tighten screw untill you notice a drop in revs and back off. No specs from Bosch. REMEMBER direction of shaft. Timing the wipers went without a hitch. Park the motor, put wipers next to center gasket, put arm on shaft, pull wipers away from windshield, turn wipers on and tap inn switch to make sure things are going the correct direction. Put wipers on windshield and maker full sweep. Adjust asd nessary. Note the arm that attaches to wiper motor can move in any direction after motor is removed. Remember motor direction from park.
I found a simular motor on EBay with differnt shaft a lot cheeper than from Prevost. Remove bull gear and shaft and exchange?
If anyone wants motor No# or bearing No# let me know. I have photos but dont have time now to post.

Good job Capt, I think this is the first time anyone has repaired one of these motors instead of replacing. At least now folks know it can be done.
