XLII D60 Engine Valve Cover Access
Posted by steve on August 18, 2021 at 1:48 pmPic shows what looks to be a removable insulated area above engine. Curious if anyone else has same setup & is it removable to give enough clearance for valve adjustment ?

Yes and Yes!
We have a removable finished floor section. Which probably means nothing since you have a different conversion. Ours is a 2001 Marathon. Remove the finished floor section and 6 bolts hold the access hatch in place.
What you need is someone with a Parliament conversion that has removed the hatch to chime in with more specific knowledge.
Best of luck!!!!!..

If it’s a N/S bed, it’s most likely under the bed. Some disassembly required!
If it is E/W it could be most anywhere including some inaccessible places requiring major disassembly. In most cases it is less accessible than money can buy.
(seriously, but a bit tongue in cheek). You can try to guessitmate the distance from the access panel to something on the side of the bus and translate that to the interior under floor location and try peeking in and around everything in that area.

Steve, here’s a photo of the top side. Nothing but a little fun…just removed mine to install a new CTS coolant temp sensor.

Jim: I need to access that too. We have a 99 Liberty XL45, east-west bed. What did you do to access the top of the engine?

if you do not have a Jake brake, the valve cover can be slid off.

Dick, just pull the 4 drawers out of the rear middle section dresser located under the closet. Then you will notice Liberty has engineered the cabinet center section and cross brace to be easily removed. Once those pieces are out of the way, you will find 6 bolts holding the aluminum covered, insulated cover down. BTW, the top large drawers lift off of the slides, the bottom drawers just pull out after reaching the slide stop. If you have additional questions I’ll be happy to help.

Dick, et al, I found a picture for you. Yours should be similar.

Jim, that box looks similar to mine when bed is raised. How was the box removed ?

Steve, 6 bolts hold the cover down, it will be stuck due to the weatherseal/gasket, so just carefully pry it up. I tried to convince my wife to climb between the fan and turbo, so I would not have to disassemble the cabinet, but she refused. LOL, Hey but she does a great job of ironing my pants and shirts…and packs the bus for trips among other things .
