  • XL2 2005 Chassis slideouts only open about 6″.

When I hit the button inside the coach, the seal deflates, the locks retract, slideout moves out about 6″ and all seems normal, but stops. I end up having to go outside and use the controller in the cargo bay. I do make sure the seal is deflated. This works but I would like to know if any one has had this problem and may know of a solution.

Has anything slid under the slide or ends to stop movement.

Is your coach level ? Is level low control in neutral position ? Is parking brake on ?

Just throwing a few thoughts out for consideration. Several safety switches are built in to prevent slide and hardware damage. Using the controller I believe bypasses some safety controls to protect slide system.

    John,

It didn’t sound like you were in an emergency situation, if so let me know and I’ll move this back to the Emergency topic.

both front and rear slides have the exact same problem so I suspect it is probably something in the controller rather than something specific, like an obstruction etc. I have checked all of the items you pointed out. Manual mode does seem to override every safety so I do use it with caution. Excalibur coach gave me an indepth lesson on “manual mode”. You can get in a lot of trouble if you do something out of sequence. I’ve followed Doug’s instructions and the manual mode has worked perfectly.

Has the coach had the engine batteries changed, or jump started recently? If both slides are doing it since they both have their own control system, unless both have failed components, I would verify battery voltage at the units and motors while in operation…
