Anyone recently replaced a XL windshield.
What was cost of glass and what did you pay for installation.

I do not know the current price. Last tie about 10 years ago I paid $130 for three because Prevost put them on sale.
You can change it yourself in about 20 to 30 minutes with very little practice. At rallys we had people who never changed one do a demonstration under our guidance with nothing more than a flat blade screwdriver and soapy solution. If they had the nylon tool and the tool for inserting the center rubber strip it went quick.
XLII and H3 a different story

We had to replace one a few years ago when a Turkey Buzzard decided he was done living on this Planet. The glass was around $250 at Jacksonville Prevost plus installation.

As of October 12, quote from Prevost: glass for both sides:$359.52, labor: 6 hours at $154 per hour for a total of $ 924. Total cost: $1283.52.

If Prevost is charging six hours of labor to install 2 XL windshields they are performing highway robbery.

3 years ago I installed a new refer and pulled glass out install refer,I bought new rubber for both sides . I was going to pay some so called glass expert to install glass and he broke the 1st one, he said he would be rite back and never heard from him again. I had a new spare glass that came with bus and me and my son installed them both not so hard, I have install VW bug glass front and rear years ago, kinda the same just bigger.

I paid about $285 delivered from Prevost to our door a few months ago.

Based solely on that quote it is not necessary to say they are alleged crooks. Remove the word alleged in future conversations regarding windshield replacement.

I’ve told this on here 5 or 6 years ago. My 06 chassis XLII was 9500 for a replacement, that is book rate for 1 window and labor. If you watch them it takes about 2 hours to do it for an average tech. Tell them and they will adjust labor.
Now there was 1 black gentlemen at Mira Loma who was the best, he had a straight index finger and he averaged 1 hour per window.
I have not seen him in a few years.

Bernie, quit relating costs between an XL and an XLII.I will freely admit the man that replaced both my XLII windshields took almost an hour each so a hgher price is expected, but still the prices charged or quoted are obscene.

Yes it is obscene. When they were on sale years ago I bought one on sale and kept it at Mira Loma for a spare. Well they used it when I needed it and they got one for me and gave me another for free and replaced both at no charge.
The proud owner of my old bus got 2 new windows. Now wasn’t that a nice story A1.

It’s my understanding that Jeff Rowe holds the XL windshield replacement record at 13 minutes. I can’t remember if that was a single windshield install or old one out and new one in.
Is that quote for windshield replacement from Prevost Houston?

I just replaced the driver’s windshield. The cost was $292 from their windshield supplier, and the install took about 40 minutes by me and a friend.

I have replaced many windshields over the years. A 3hr labor charge per side from Prevost is a fair average. Yes, some go quicker, some are even really quick, but a great many don’t and it takes longer. My worst one took about 8 hours. Just cleaning the rubber after you remove the old can take an hour+ It also depends if someone else already changed it once before and used some type of adhesive inside the rubber. I have ran across a few that were Sikaflexedin place.
With that said, it is fairly easy to do with 2 people. Just go slow and don’t force it.
If you choose to do it yourself, I recommend you go to the local paint, auto, or hardware store and get some plastic sticks. You run a high risk of cracking the class using a screw driver.
