The simple answer is rivets.

The XLII has a different appearance especially in the front with taller windows, and on the sides with frameless windows. There are multiple other differences some minor, and some not so minor such as the dash, slides, and brakes depending on the vintage.

But as mentioned originally the XL skin is secured to the frame structure with rivets and the XLII has the skin secured by bonding.

Ah, I think Doug was askiing a different question. Both XL and XLV have rivets and as Victor pointed out, the XL is 40′ and the XLV is 45′.

It seems that simple is still best! I got confused while searching for a bus seeing listings for XL40, XL45, XLV45’s. They must be dropping the “V” on some of the XL45’s.

I expect Jon to soon start doing what I do. I still have 7 hairs on top. I count them every morning. If one is missing, I check the pillow. I will admit that 4 of the 7 are now held in
