  • XL Headlight Bulbs

Posted by Davy on January 14, 2019 at 7:25 am

My 95 XL has the old Bronco style headlights. I changed the bulbs when I purchased the bus nearly 11 years ago. I noticed over the weekend that one of them is not working on dim. I am not looking to update the headlights, but does anyone know if there is a direct LED bulb replacement for this? I have not taken it apart yet to see what the bulb number is. I know I saved the packaging, but it is probably in the barn and not with me.

I am in the habit now of taking pictures of things like packaging and part numbers, but not back then. In 2008 I carried a phone, not a picture taking, weather proclaiming, music listening, web surfing, video playing, event documenting, part number saving, texting machine.cool

One good thing, there is a NAPA about 3 doors down from the church where we are parked this week.

    Thanks,

    Davy

Wow! Thanks, Tom. I do not even know where to begin looking. I did not know there were so many options. Do you happen to know which Bronco year lights are on the XL? You reckon these are plug and play with what I have now?

Davy I bought LED replacement from either Amazon or Ebay for under $50. Only thing I had to do was cut the plastic ring that holds the bulb in to the socket a little thinner. Go to Amazon look up Led Headlights select the ones that would fit a 1988 Bronco or F150. Once you do this you will think you were driving with candles before.

    Or this!

Not cheap but looks great and is so bright it’s hard to believe.

You are correct. These original bulbs are near worthless. I can usually drive with brights and NO one notices. I use my Rigid LED fog lights when possible.

I replaced the bulbs to get back on the road for now, but I will move to LED at some point.

I purchased the bulb before I took it apart and the computer at NAPA said 9004. Once I opened it up, my old bulb was 9007, but the 9004 fit and worked fine so I went with it.

    Thank you for your help.

Parliment Coach in Sanford, FL sets them up for Coaches (mostly Country Coach) with that kind of a light housing. It’s a direct replacement as they use your existing housing and fit the lights to it.
