Winegard Rayzar
Upon advice of a trusted PC member, I had a Winegard Rayzar Automatic HDTV antenna installed. I’m parked right on Lake Erie probably 5 miles across the water to all the local big 3 networks. When I do an auto scan I can’t get our local CBS, NBC, or ABC stations, which is exactly why I added the Rayzar. I do get the PBS station plus a bunch of 70s game shows.
I called Winegard and the lady said “we can’t control what stations you pick up. Maybe you’re too close to the stations. The Automatic is geared to pick up stations within a 35 mile range.” She was of no help.
I rebooted and rescanned multiple times. No luck. Any ideas how I can get the local network affiliates without having to call Judy in the Philippines with DirecTV?

After you scan for stations with your antenna, you have to also get your TV tuner to scan for stations.

Hello,
I installed my Razor last summer. Every where I go I have good luck with at least 2 of the 3 networks. Most of the time I get all three. Be aware that each network may be coming from a different tower in a different area. If all three towers are from the same place, which is typical for most big cities, it will lock on all three.
The Razor will search out several different tower signals and lock on the strongest one. After locking on, then have your TVs individually search out the signals to lock onto. You will have to do this process with each TV. I have two in my coach.

So what was the fix?

It was a glitch Larry. We couldn’t get it to hunt HD channels on air and it’s the 1st trip out for Jimmy with it.
Jeff installed the Razor to be operated by the Crestron so after we ran some tests Jimmy called Jeff and they fiddled with the antenna switch in the rear closet and it’s working.

Bernie was right on it as was Jeff and Andrew. The bottom line is I had to Reset the Winegard wall mount in the closet. Hit the Search and Counter Clockwise Rotate button at the same time resets the system. After that, the local stations started appearing during the Channel Scan.
I’ll probably have Andrew program those two buttons from the Winegard wall mount as a function on the iPad and Crestron remotes. Andrew at ETLC is a wizard.
And the HiDef local channels were beautiful on the 55″ Samsung in the Salon.
