  • Windshield washers

Posted by Larry & Diane on May 29, 2014 at 8:52 pm

Our windshield washers weren’t working when we bought the bus and the fluid bottle was very low so I just figured that I needed to add fluid to it… WRONG… when I openned the lid to add the fluid the tubes were detached and laying in the bottom of the bottle and nothing was hooked up. Assuming that the bottle must have had a leak I began my investigation to find the bottle was okay but the two little black plastic pieces that feed through the bottle were broken in two where the screw threads into the water line. I ordered two from Prevost and put it all back together and it still isn’t washing the windshield. the pumps are both running the bottle isn’t leaking but there is water running out behind the front bumper, every time I hit the pump water runs out everywhere which tells me there is a leak between the wipers and the bottle but high up enough that I can’t see it, nor do I have a clue how to access that area. I can’t even see up in there with a flash light.

Ideas please !! Thanks in advance !!

    Diane,

I do not know anything about an H3 but I think on my first XL I had a leak in the windshield washer fitting where it went through the bulkhead fitting from inside the coach to outside. I had to open the dash to access it.

I’m not suggesting you have the same problem, but in trying to figure out what was going on I had to follow the hoses from the reservoir until I located the problem. It was not easy. I have see coaches with headlight washers so if yours has them that might be part of your problem so drop the front bumper if you have them to see if that is the issue.

Sometime we all need to get together and make a list of the various things we have had to fix at one time or another. I’m betting there will be numerous items that pop up a lot. It would be great if that list were expanded to include discussions regarding how the problem was fixed. That would include the simple things like reconnecting a washer hose which apparently other owners have done also, but could include more complex or expensive things like the CACs.

If someone wants to start a thread we all could contribute.
