You have few options:

— keep your old system alive with spare parts (I have a computer and display I’ll sell cheap). I understand that Miles Circo is the goto guy. I wasn’t successful in tracking him down when I had a problem, so you may want to connect with him in advance.

— you can go back to Prevost gauges. If you elect this route the only economical way to do this in my opinion is to find a wrecked bus in salvage where you can buy the dash. Keep in mind that this may not give you the same number of sensors.

— do nothing and just wait. It may not fail for years to come. The PC part of my system works fine after 14 years. I would recommend some thoughts on how to survive a failure. I use Silver Leaf’s PC based system and Detroit’s ProDriver for back-up. Keep in mind this will only back up data that’s on the communications bus (data available from the engine and transmission). It will not provide back up for things like air pressure monitoring. This is still adequate given the main air system will go into alarm at around 60psi. There is also a POG member that has a iPad app and vehicle interface that also provides for engine and transmission data similiar to Silver Leaf’s PC based system.

— the final option is expensive at $10K and its the path I took. Silver Leaf has a Glass Dash that is a direct replacement for the current display. It provides much much more information and incorporates the rear view camera. It can be used, with additional modules, as a whole vehicle management system. It does not use a PC but is rather application specific. The display unit has all the code and processors right on the back. No more windows boot up 🙂 BTW, the $10K price is installed with new air pressure sensors. I had it done at their facility, but they do them on the road all the time.

FWIW, the part of my system that became erratic and drove me to replacement was the data control unit that translates air pressure, voltages and other none data systems to the data bus of the computer. Since thiese pictures were taken I moved the Detroit ProDriver and it’s now mounted directly right of the new SilverLeaf system.

I’d simply use Silverleaf’s VMSPC solution ($300) on a small netbook ($250) with a second VGA screen to cover your existing screen if you so desire. VMSPC is a small adapter that hooks into your diagnostics port plus software that runs on a PC/netbook. So for $600 you have a full replacement that can easily be upgraded to new PC hardware whenever necessary.

I have an analog dash but use the VMSPC on a netbook to display all engine/transmission parameters and log the information.

I have also installed the Silver Leaf dash in my coach. Your system is running on Windows 3.1 software and aside from the fact that you can’t get support for any of the software or hardware and if you have the Delorme mapping program tied into the PC like I did, the mapping data base is really old and completely out dated.

You can ck with Miles as previously mentioned or you might get some help from Nick Hessler, Nick is one of the engineers that was at Country Coach when they came up with this and he has some parts. The Silver Leaf dash is the way to go if you want a digital dash and don’t mind the cost, but as Jon has said that is a risk since all the data comes from one data point. You can also use their VMS PC software if you have some where to put the laptop pc. All the info comes from the same data point also.

Another option migh be the sofware and hardware that Ray Davis has come up with for the iPad.

I have been useing his package for about a year and it really works great. I thing he is close to going commercial with this pretty soon. You connect a wireless transmitter to the data port next to the drivers seat and it transmits the data wirelessly to the iPad.

Terry Blankenship at Visone Automart says he has a fix for the Country Coach Glass Dash. I don’t know any details, just putting it out there as an option.

He also has several salvage Prevosts he’s parting out.

Two More Options for Glass Dash

1. Ray Davis has developed an IPad App that I was fortunate enough to participate in the Beta Testing- it runs off the DDec with no wiring other than wifi to transmit into into the Ipad Very simple to install and use with the IPAD. Only drawbacks – no fuel gauge, no air pressure readings – everything else plus a few added readings.

2 Miles Circo bought up the remaining Glass Dashes from the CC foreclosure sale. Dont know how many he has left if any. He is a wealth of knowledge .
