  • Wilderness RV Resort – Silver Springs FL

So last January on our way back from the Prevost-Stuff show, we stopped in for a night at the Wilderness RV Resort in Silver Springs FL. We got put into the front section, as we were just in for the night.

Well for Thanksgiving, we were going down to Florida to meet-up with my Brother in Jacksonville and decided to do a week here before heading over to Camptown USA in Beverly Beach. We got a spot in the Preserve section of the park (Class A’s only). Our week in November turned into 3 weeks when we had to get back to the ATL area to deal with some responsibilities. We had plans to get back at Christmas, but that got pushed out till mid January. We are now on a month and a half here with our plan to leave in early April (after the mass-exodus of snow birds happen).

Spots are nice. Wide (as in 40 foot wide) and all concrete pads at 65 deep. Oh ye, also double wide pads so once you park your coach, you have the entire length of concrete to sit out on. Has a nice club house, pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room, work out facility, laundry facility and your standard amenities (cable, WiFi, etc.).

The park backs up to the Ocala national forest so it’s very peaceful and quiet as well as good access to hiking and the river.

If you are looking for a place to spend a week or more in central Florida, give it a try. Rates are reasonable at $249 (includes power, water, sewage) a week and $525 a month (electricity is separate at 13 cents a kw).

We have found the people here very friendly and inviting, the outdoor activities in the area numerous and the motorcycle riding great for day trips. Central North Florida has some very interesting areas that we didn’t expect to find (very old school, country). That and it’s about 60 miles from Daytona/Ormond Beach so bike week is close by. About 1.5 hours from Orlando, Tampa and Jacksonville.
